Prince William shared a heartfelt update on Kate Middleton’s recovery from cancer after her recent solo trip to Italy.

“I’m so proud — incredibly proud,” the Prince of Wales said during an interview with “Heart Breakfast” hosts Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden while visiting the Isles of Scilly on Friday.

“She’s been amazing,” William added about his wife, who earlier this month traveled to the Italian city of Reggio Emilia for her first overseas visit since revealing her cancer diagnosis.

“She’s been amazing,” William said of his wife during the radio interview (pictured above).

“She’s been through so much over the last couple of years. She had really been looking forward to the Italy trip, so I’m very happy it went so well.”

The Prince of Wales, 43, explained that Kate Middleton, 44, spent significant time preparing for the visit, which focused on early childhood education and child development.

“She’s done so much research,” he said. “She spends countless hours going through paperwork. She’s become a real expert on early years. Most evenings, I’m trying to get through the bedroom while she has documents spread everywhere, ready to read.”

William added that the trip “went really well for her” and said the princess “came back buzzing,” though he acknowledged that overseas engagements can “take a lot out of you.”

William said the Princess of Wales (pictured here in Italy on May 13) had been looking forward to the trip.

“So we have to balance that, make sure she’s okay and rested, but she’s in good form,” he said.

The Prince of Wales also praised Kate Middleton’s role as a mother to their three children — Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.

“She’s an amazing mum, an amazing wife, and, literally, our family couldn’t cope without her,” he said. “She’s been absolutely stunning, brilliant.”

Middleton revealed in March 2024 that she was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer, one month after King Charles III also announced his cancer diagnosis. In September 2024, she confirmed she had completed treatment, and four months later shared that she was in remission.

Royal photographer Chris Jackson previously told us earlier this year that Kate Middleton and King Charles III supported each other throughout their respective cancer battles.

“I think you can’t avoid what’s happened with the cancer, with the King and Catherine,” Jackson said. “You really couldn’t have made it up — them basically having cancer at the same time.”

The Getty Images photographer also noted that both royals have since returned to their duties with renewed strength.

“To see the bounce back has been amazing,” he said. “And that has generated a huge amount of goodwill and positivity.”
