President Trump received a grand royal welcome.

On Wednesday, the commander-in-chief and First Lady Melania Trump were warmly greeted by senior members of the royal family as they arrived in the UK for a historic second state visit.

The couple made their entrance at Windsor Castle aboard the Marine One helicopter.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, were seen outside the castle ahead of the ceremonial welcome.

Upon arrival, President Trump and First Lady Melania were greeted by Prince William and Princess Catherine, who escorted them to meet King Charles and Queen Camilla inside the castle.

Soon after, the Mounted Band of the Household Cavalry performed the U.S. national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

The president landed in London on Tuesday night for a brief but lavish two-day visit, during which King Charles will host a banquet and carriage procession in his honor.

The royal salute and procession stood in sharp contrast to Trump’s first state visit in June 2019.

Altogether, 120 horses and 1,300 members of the British military are participating in the ceremonial welcome, which will also feature a joint UK-U.S. military flypast.

The horse-drawn procession makes its way toward Windsor Castle, in Windsor, on Sept. 17, 2025.

“The joint flypast by UK and U.S. F-35 aircraft demonstrates the strength of the UK-U.S. defense and security partnership,” the British Defense Ministry said.

After the procession, President Trump and First Lady Melania will join King Charles and Queen Camilla for lunch in the State Dining Room.

A grand banquet is planned for Wednesday evening, with more than 150 guests expected, including members of the royal family, political leaders, and prominent figures connected to both the UK and the U.S.

Ahead of the dinner, President Trump extended a formal invitation to former British Ambassador to the U.S., Dame Karen Pierce.

This visit sees the Trumps staying at Windsor Castle, as Buckingham Palace is undergoing extensive renovations set to be completed by 2027.

Security, led by Thames Valley Police, has been significantly heightened for the visit, representing the UK’s largest security operation since King Charles’s coronation in May 2023.

The trip will also include a heartfelt tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, who welcomed the Trumps during their first state visit in 2019.
