Scott and Jackie Nelson are the proprietors of Down Under Colour Ranch in Florida, dedicated to breeding Australian and American paint horses. While all their horses are remarkable, none surpasses the rarity of the Medicine Hat filly born on the ranch by one of the mares.

Meet Coconut, a Medicine Hat horse, characterized by a predominantly white body with distinctive markings on her ears and head. Such a combination is exceptionally uncommon for a paint horse. In the rich tapestry of Native American traditions, Medicine Hat horses held special significance, often reserved for chiefs and medicine men.
According to the owners, these horses must bear a shield on their chest and distinct markings on their flanks, aptly referred to as shields. Additionally, they are distinguished by having only one blue eye, encircled by a liner. This singular blue eye is known in Indian Mythology as a Sky Eye. Should a Chief or Medicine Man meet their end in battle, it is believed that this lone blue sky eye will carry their spirits to the Gods, a sacred and profound connection explained by the owners on YouTube.
