Veterinarian Dr. Ernie Ward, a staunch advocate for treating animals with the same care as humans, undertook a compelling experiment to demonstrate the ineffectiveness of dog houses as proper shelters. Choosing the midst of winter for this venture, he spent a night inside one, documenting the entire experience with his phone. Now, he shares the intriguing and poignant video with the world.

Throughout the years, dogs have often been perceived as outdoor creatures fortunate to find shelter in a barn or a dog house. While some argue that animals are inherently adapted to cold weather, there are dissenting opinions that vehemently reject this notion.

Despite Dr. Ward’s intention to make the video authentic, he initially began the night clad in winter attire to ensure his warmth. He emphasizes the fact that animals lack the ability to don extra clothing for protection against the elements. Settling into the dog house, Dr. Ward attempts to settle in for the night; however, the steadily decreasing temperatures render any semblance of comfort impossible, as reported by Pawbuzz

While shivering within the dog house, Dr. Ward remarks that the cold has rendered his leg numb. As the temperatures plummet to a mere 15 degrees after four hours, ice begins to form on the vet’s nose. Despite his determination to endure the entire night outdoors, Dr. Ward finds the freezing conditions unbearable. After enduring four hours in the cold, he decides to call it quits and retreats indoors.

Following his challenging ordeal in the doghouse, Dr. Ward strengthens his conviction that dogs should be indoors with their owners during the cold winter months. He asserts that subjecting animals to the cold is a form of cruelty.

Moreover, it’s not just animals in dog houses that concern Dr. Ward. He underscores the harsh lives of homeless animals and urges individuals to report such cases, advocating for their placement in shelters rather than allowing them to endure the cold and suffering.
