Tom Selleck and Jillie Joan Mack Celebrate Three Decades of Marriage with a Low-Key Profile, Crediting Privacy and Occasional Work Breaks for Their Success.
Decades back in London, during the filming of his movie “Lassiter,” Tom Selleck crossed paths with Jillie Joan Mack as they both frequented the West End production of Cats.
“He wouldn’t stop raving about how amazing Cats was,” shared his co-star from the film, Jane Seymour, in conversation with People magazine. “While I found it enjoyable, the idea of watching it over and over didn’t quite resonate with me.”
As it happens, Tom had a hidden agenda: He aimed to connect with the 25-year-old Jillie Joan, who was part of the production. Confirming the sequence of events, Jillie’s agent in London disclosed that the duo shared a dinner, setting the course for their unfolding relationship, as reported by People.
A year later, the two had a little daughter and moved to a ranch in California where they all live to this day. Selleck quit his job on the hit show Magnum P.I. and put his career on hold to be with his family.
“It’s important to nurture your marriage,” he told People. “I think wanting time away from work has been good for that.”
This approach also provided a down-to-earth foundation for raising their daughter Hannah, who has since pursued a career as a professional equestrian.
