A mock engagement announcement in the Boston Globe.

Pattinson and Zendaya’s characters from The Drama appeared in a spoof engagement announcement published in the Boston Globe on Dec. 9, 2025.

The notice opened with:
“Mr. and Mrs. Roger Harwood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, announce the engagement of their daughter, Emma Harwood, to Charlie Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Thompson of London, England.”
The announcement ran beneath a sweet photo of Zendaya perched on Pattinson’s lap, flashing a sparkling engagement ring.

Mirroring the style of real-life engagement notices, the blurb included biographical details about the “couple.”

“Mr. Harwood, a decorated military veteran, is proud to share this joyous news,” it continued. “Miss Harwood is a 2013 graduate of Portside High School and a 2017 honors graduate of Boston University, where she earned her B.A. degree in English. She is currently employed at Mission Books.”

Pattinson and Zendaya appear as Charlie Thompson and Emma Harwood in the teaser trailer for The Drama.

“The future groom, Mr. Thompson, was a 2004 graduate of Eaton College and later earned his Ph.D. in Art History from Tufts University,” the mock announcement stated. “He currently serves as Director of the Cambridge Art Museum.”

The notice wrapped with a final detail: the pair “will wed on April 3, 2026” — the same date The Drama is scheduled to hit theaters.

But the promotional stunt fooled more than a few readers. After some confusion, the Boston Globe took to Instagram to clarify that the engagement announcement was merely a clever marketing ploy for the film.

The upcoming A24 film follows Pattinson and Zendaya as an engaged couple approaching their wedding day.

According to the outlet, the Living/Arts team received “an unusual request” on Monday to hold their daily TV Critic’s column so an ad could run in its place — specifically “right next to the Love Letters romance advice column.”

A teaser trailer for The Drama dropped on Wednesday, featuring Pattinson and Zendaya’s characters gearing up for their big day.

The clip opens with the couple posing sweetly for wedding photos, but the tone quickly shifts: chaos ensues as Zendaya’s Emma is shown chugging alcohol.

Another intense moment in the trailer shows Pattinson’s Charlie being supported by family members as he bleeds from the nose.

The film’s official logline sets the tone:
“A happily engaged couple is put to the test when an unexpected turn sends their wedding week off the rails.”

A second version adds:
“Days before their wedding, a couple’s relationship is shaken when one partner discovers unsettling truths about the other.”
