Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s split may have been quietly foreshadowed in a cryptic Instagram post shared months ago.
Following reports on Monday that the Babygirl actress and the country music star are parting ways after nearly two decades of marriage, fans began speculating that signs of trouble had surfaced earlier this year.
In June, Kidman marked their wedding anniversary with a heartfelt Instagram tribute celebrating the milestone.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s separation may have been quietly foreshadowed in a subtle Instagram moment months ago.
To celebrate their wedding anniversary, the Eyes Wide Shut actress shared a black-and-white photo of the couple cuddling in what appeared to be a dressing room, captioning it: “Happy Anniversary Baby.”
But fans sensed something was amiss when the Somewhere In My Car singer didn’t post his own tribute. Instead, he simply dropped a heart emoji in the comments — a gesture many saw as uncharacteristically restrained for Urban, who has long been vocal about his love for Kidman online, especially on anniversaries.
Urban’s most recent Instagram post featuring Kidman came on May 9, when he shared snapshots of the pair at the Academy of Country Music Awards. Just a year earlier, in June 2024, he had marked their 18th anniversary with a heartfelt message declaring his love for her was “forever,” accompanied by a tender photo of the two together.

However, speculation grew when the Somewhere In My Car singer chose not to post a tribute to his wife on social media.
Shortly after news of their split surfaced on Monday, insiders revealed the couple had been living apart “since the beginning of summer.”
“Sometimes relationships just run their course,” one source told Page Six, noting that the Oscar winner had hoped to save the marriage and did not want to separate.
According to TMZ, the Big Little Lies actress, 58, and Urban, 57, are already living separately, with the country star having purchased his own Nashville residence and moved out of their family home.
Sources also claimed that Kidman has been caring for their two daughters — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14 — and “holding the family together through this difficult time since Keith has been gone.”

Reports suggest that Urban may have been the one to initiate the split, though it remains unclear whether the couple plans to move forward with divorce proceedings.
“Nicole did not want the separation and was trying to save things,” a source revealed.
The couple first met at the G’Day USA gala in January 2005 and went on to wed the following year, on June 25, 2006.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman attended the 2023 Met Gala, celebrating Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 1, 2023.
Their last public appearance together came just months before news of their separation, when they were seen at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 at Geodis Park stadium in Nashville, Tenn., on June 20.
Not long after, Urban made headlines when an interview was abruptly cut short after he was asked about Kidman’s intimate scenes with Zac Efron in her 2024 film A Family Affair.
Adding to the speculation, a source close to the former couple told People that their split “really hasn’t been a secret” among those in their inner circle.
“People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” the insider shared, noting that the two had “been living separately for a while now.”

Amid the breakup, another source told the outlet that Kidman has been leaning heavily on her family for support.
“Nicole’s sister has been a rock, and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,” the insider shared.
