Oscar nominee Mickey Rourke departed from Celebrity Big Brother UK just days after the show’s start due to his “unacceptable” behavior toward fellow contestants.
Rourke, famous for his role as Randy “The Ram” Robinson in The Wrestler, faced backlash for his comments directed at influencer JoJo Siwa and a heated argument with Love Island star Chris Hughes.
In a statement from ITV’s Celebrity Big Brother, it was confirmed: “Mickey Rourke has agreed to leave the Celebrity Big Brother House this evening following a conversation with Big Brother regarding the continued use of inappropriate language and instances of unacceptable behavior.”
Actor Mickey Rourke was asked to exit Celebrity Big Brother UK just days into the show’s run.
The 72-year-old actor first stirred controversy in the house when he approached 21-year-old JoJo Siwa and asked whether she “likes girls or boys.”
Siwa, who has been open about her sexuality, replied that she likes girls—prompting the Angel Heart star to respond with a startling remark.
“If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore,” Rourke told Siwa.
“I can guarantee I’ll still be gay and in a very happy relationship,” Siwa shot back.
Rourke then responded, “I’ll tie you up,” adding that he planned to “vote the lesbian out real quick.”
Housemate Chris Hughes stepped in to defend the “Karma” singer, telling Rourke, “You can’t say that.”
According to reports, the Sin City actor received an official warning for his behavior and later apologized to the former child star.
“I want to apologize,” Rourke said. “I’ve got a habit of having a short fuse. And I don’t mean anything by it. I do mean it—sorry. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t say it to you.”
Rourke’s remarks brought Siwa to tears.
According to the outlet, tensions between Rourke and Hughes reportedly escalated on Saturday, shortly before the actor was asked to leave the show.
No physical altercations were reported.
The Post has reached out to representatives for Rourke, Siwa, and Hughes for comment.
Tensions reportedly intensified between Rourke and Love Island alum Chris Hughes on Saturday.
Rourke earned an Academy Award nomination in 2009 for his lead role in The Wrestler.
Pop star JoJo Siwa’s mother, Jessalynn Siwa, spoke out on Instagram Friday about her daughter’s treatment on the show, prior to Rourke’s departure.
“Honestly, I’m surprised he didn’t go home,” she said.
The Dance Moms alum expressed her disappointment, saying she was “really sad” that her daughter traveled to a foreign country “to do a TV show, and she got treated like that right away, right out of the gate.”
“I think she handled it great,” she continued. “Everyone’s told me ‘she handled it so well.’ Doesn’t make it okay; doesn’t make it right. I’m just lucky she can handle herself.”
Jessalynn Siwa addressed Rourke’s comments.
The reality TV star commented that criticizing her daughter for her singing, dancing, and sexuality has “become a culture.”
“Tell her you’ll make her not a lesbian,” Siwa’s mom said. “What’s next? I just take it at face value.”
On Friday, former Disney Channel star Bella Thorne also spoke out against Rourke’s past behavior, accusing him of injuring her genitals on a movie set.
Thorne didn’t specify which film the incident occurred during, but the two only worked together on the 2020 film Girl.
“This f–king dude. GROSS. I had to work with this man – in a scene where I’m on my knees with my hands zip-tied behind my back,” Thorne recalled. “He was supposed to use a metal grinder on my kneecap, but instead, he used it on my genitals through my jeans.”
