A Texas couple has pleaded guilty to forcibly tattooing their two young children, ages 5 and 9, while they were restrained, gagged, and blindfolded. The mother, Megan Farr, and her partner, Gunner Farr, admitted to using a staple to tattoo the children. After Child Protective Services was alerted, the couple attempted to erase the tattoos by scrubbing and scraping the children’s skin so intensely that it caused visible injuries, including flesh being removed from the tattooed areas. The abuse came to light when CPS was notified, and the couple was arrested on April 24, 2023, with the police describing the injuries as severe.
Megan Farr pleaded guilty on Thursday and is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
“This occurred around the time CPS became involved in the child abuse allegations.”
Police reported that Megan, 27, and Gunner, 23, restrained the children with rope, blindfolded them with rags, and taped their mouths shut before using a pointed needle to tattoo their skin.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by the outlet, the disturbing pair tattooed the 5-year-old’s foot and the 9-year-old’s shoulder in their Zavalla home.
On April 17, 2023, the children’s biological father and stepmother contacted CPS after noticing the tattoos and questioning Megan Farr. According to the children’s father, Megan laughed before driving away.
The CPS investigation led the troubled parents to attempt to remove the tattoos by cutting, scraping, and scrubbing the children’s skin with lemon juice, as stated in the affidavit.
The abuse occurred in the couple’s Zavalla home.
Officials removed both children, along with their younger siblings, from the home. During their week-long investigation, police also recovered a tattoo kit.
Megan Farr pleaded guilty on Thursday to injuring a child, according to the outlet report.
She is scheduled to be sentenced in May.
They were both arrested in April 2023 after CPS was alerted to their forcible tattooing of the children.
Gunner Farr pleaded guilty on March 20 and was sentenced to five years in prison on bodily injury charges and two years for unlawful restraint, according to KTRE.
His prison terms will be served at the same time.
