The former Suits star showcased her acting prowess while reading to children during her visit.
In photos released on Tuesday by the hospital and shared online via ExtraTV, Meghan warmly greeted the group of children gathered to listen to her read stories, including her favorite, “Rosie Revere, Engineer.”
Meghan’s background in acting shone through as she skillfully gestured and modulated her voice to bring the characters to life.
Stylish as ever, the Duchess donned an effortlessly chic floral ensemble, opting for a $3,490 (£2,776) Oscar De La Renta silk-chiffon landscape shirt dress with long cuffed sleeves and a sash belt, adding a touch of springtime joy to her outfit.
This outing marked the second time Meghan wore the piece, having previously been seen in the dress in photographs featured in the Sussexes’ Netflix docuseries, “Harry & Meghan,” in 2022.
Completing her look, she paired the dress with classic £595 ($747) ‘Love Affair’ black pumps with a delicate strap from Italian brand Aquazzura, a favorite choice for Meghan on numerous occasions.
Meghan styled her glossy brunette tresses in loose waves and kept her makeup simple and understated to complement her vibrant ensemble. A hint of rosy pink blush and a subtle sweep of eyeliner across her eyelids enhanced the mother-of-two’s complexion.

Complementing her outfit, the Duchess adorned a pair of simple yet elegant chunky gold hoop earrings.
Married to Prince Harry, Meghan hasn’t returned to Britain since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. Notably, she also did not attend King Charles’s coronation in May 2023, which her husband attended alone.
Having relocated to California in June 2020, Harry and Meghan expressed a desire for space to raise their first child, Archie, with their daughter, Lilibet, born in 2021.
A statement about Meghan’s visit to the children’s hospital described the joyful atmosphere: “Children were laughing and singing as The Duchess transformed with every page, reading patient favorite books like Rosie the Riveter, Pete the Cat, and I Saw a Cat.”

Clutching a Sharpie, ready to autograph the snapshots, the mother-of-two bent down to converse with the children, generously offering hugs to many of them.

Meghan’s background in acting proved beneficial as she gestured and altered her voice to enhance the characters’ dialogue.
This isn’t the first occasion where the Duchess has engaged with children through stories. She authored a children’s book, “The Bench,” and on Archie’s first birthday in May 2020, she and her son appeared in a clip where she read “Duck! Rabbit!” by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and Tom Lichtenheld.
During her March visit, Meghan shared hugs with both the children and staff, and also took photographs with them. Additionally, she engaged the children in STEAM activities related to each book, encouraging exploration of counting, colors, problem-solving, and more.
Meghan’s children’s book, “The Bench,” draws inspiration from Archie’s bond with his father, Prince Harry. Originally a poem written for her husband on Father’s Day, it evolved into a story dedicated to Harry and Archie, as expressed in the dedication: “For the man and the boy who make my heart go pump-pump.”
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ Literally Healing program, which gifts over 65,000 books annually to families at the hospital, hosted Meghan’s storytime as part of the Make March Matter campaign. This annual fundraiser aims to instill hope and foster healthier futures through the support of celebrities, businesses, and the broader community. Since 2016, the campaign has raised over $10 million for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
Meghan joins a list of celebrities who have visited the hospital to uplift patients, including Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jake Gyllenhaal, who treated the children to a special advanced screening of “Spider-Man: Far From Home” in 2019.
