Jamie Lee Curtis became emotional while speaking about “man of faith” Charlie Kirk following his assassination, highlighting his strong “connection to God.” However, the actress mistakenly referred to him by the wrong last name.

“I’m going to bring something up with you because it’s fresh on my mind. Charlie Crist was killed two days ago,” the 66-year-old actress said during Marc Maron’s WTF podcast on Monday.

Maron corrected her, noting it was “Kirk, not Crist.” Curtis then explained, “I just call him Crist, I think, because of Christ — because of his deep belief.”

Actress Jamie Lee Curtis fought back tears Monday while discussing the assassination of Charlie Kirk during a podcast appearance.

Although she admitted she had little in common with Kirk and “disagreed with him on almost every point,” Curtis became emotional as she reflected on his spirituality.

“I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope that in the moment of his death he felt connected to that faith,” said the Freaky Friday actress.

“Even though I found his ideas abhorrent, I still see him as a father, a husband, and a man of faith. I hope, whatever ‘connection to God’ means, that he experienced it.”

Curtis also expressed concern about the way society is constantly “bombarded” with graphic imagery, noting the potential long-term effects of repeatedly witnessing traumatic events — from videos of the 9/11 attacks to footage of Kirk’s assassination being replayed.

“That kind of… I never want to see footage of a man being shot,” she said, choking up.

The Everything Everywhere All at Once actress noted that she feels “associated” with American tragedies witnessed on television, as she was born exactly five years to the day after President John F. Kennedy’s assassination.

“I’m associated with this awful day of someone being assassinated on television,” she said.

“We are numb to them, but they stay with us. Psychologically, we don’t know enough about what that does. Is this why we feel a lack of humanity—because we are constantly saturated with these images?”

Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot and killed on September 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University during his “American Comeback Tour.” His assassination triggered a multi-day manhunt, ending with the arrest of alleged shooter Tyler Robinson on Friday.

Turning Point USA, the conservative nonprofit Kirk founded in 2012, paid tribute to the father of three, highlighting his deep Christian faith and noting that “above all, he wished to be remembered for his faith.”

Former President Trump was the first to publicly announce Kirk’s death and stated he would posthumously award his close ally the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest honor.

Robinson, a 22-year-old from St. George, Utah, has since refused to cooperate with authorities.
