Forget the $65 TikTok-famous truffle pizzas and the sleek, secret slice spots of Manhattan — according to the food experts at Food Republic, there’s one no-frills Bronx pizzeria that tops them all.
Louie & Ernie’s, a beloved Bronx staple, has been crowned the best “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant in all of New York, beating out countless worthy competitors.
This Pelham Bay favorite has been serving up slices from the garden level of a modest single-family home at 1300 Crosby Ave. since 1959 — after first opening its doors in Harlem in 1947.

Though its reputation reaches well beyond the borough, owner Cosimo Tiso, 55, told The Post that calling his business a “restaurant” is actually “misleading.”
“We’re not a restaurant — we’re just a pizzeria, really old-school,” he said. “It’s just pizza, a few calzones, and that’s it. Nothing more.”
“If you’re expecting a Cheesecake Factory-style menu, you’re in the wrong place,” he added. “Our menu is so simple, it’s barely a menu — just a list of pizzas and calzones.”
No garlic knots, no salads, and definitely no unusual toppings.
“I’m not exotic. I know my limits — what I can handle, what my business can handle, and what my customers want,” he explained.
