Bethenny Frankel Gets Candid About Her Sudden Move to Florida
Bethenny Frankel opened up about the real reason she and her 14-year-old daughter, Bryn, relocated to Florida—despite previously attributing it to “personal and professional reasons.”
“This wasn’t even on my radar the morning of March 19th,” the former Real Housewives of New York City star revealed in a TikTok posted Friday. “But by that evening, a series of events unfolded, and we realized moving here was the right choice.”
Bethenny Frankel explained her decision to relocate to Florida.
In a TikTok posted Friday, the former RHONY star admitted that her large home felt overwhelming, saying it “was drowning me.”
“Within five weeks, we had sold and bought homes in both locations,” said the 54-year-old. “We’ll keep this apartment, but I sold my house and purchased a new one in Florida.”
Frankel, who shares her daughter Bryn with ex-husband Jason Hoppy, admitted that her previous home had become too much to handle.
“It was drowning me,” she confessed. “It was just the two of us.”
“It was just the two of us,” she said, speaking about her 14-year-old daughter, Bryn, whom she shares with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.
It was a huge property, and I bought it during a very different chapter of my life,” she explained. “At the time, I imagined it would be a big family home where I’d host lots of gatherings.
It was a massive property, and I bought it during a completely different phase of my life,” Frankel said. “I envisioned it as a big family home where I’d host gatherings and entertain often.”
“But the house started to overwhelm me—it had an apple orchard, it was a historic estate, and it sat on a lot of land. It was absolutely beautiful, perfect for a big family with kids and grandparents,” she continued. “But in reality, it became a place where I spent a lot of time alone. I didn’t really know anyone in the community, and it felt isolating.

Frankel, a longtime Manhattan resident, first announced in April that she and Bryn were relocating.
Not wanting to be “home alone,” Frankel decided it was time to “simplify.”
“What I see as simplification might feel complicated to others,” she said. “I’m still going to be living in a beautiful home, but I realized I took on more than I could handle. What I envisioned was very different from the reality.”
Although Frankel had planned to wait until Bryn went to college before making any changes, a specific “moment” prompted her to reconsider.
“This situation was overwhelming me, and something else was pulling her in a different direction. Neither of us said it aloud, but we both knew,” she explained.
At the time, she explained, it was a decision made with her daughter in mind.
“Once it became about her, I could finally be honest with myself about my feelings, and it liberated both of us,” she said. “I believe I’ll feel lighter, brighter, and happier in the months ahead.”
“I’m excited for this next chapter,” she added.
And despite the challenges of the past few months, she shared that her fans have been a huge support. “They’re getting me through this tough time,” she revealed.
