Swift’s previous major public appearance came at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in September, where she made history as the most-awarded artist in the ceremony’s history. (The singer is pictured above posing on the red carpet before the star-studded event.)
The milestone followed Swift’s acceptance of the first-ever MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, which was presented to her by actress Dakota Johnson at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
During her acceptance speech, the Grammy-winning superstar reflected on her two decades of creating music videos and expressed gratitude to MTV for providing artists with a platform to showcase their creativity.
“First of all, I want to say thank you to MTV for giving this platform to music videos so long ago,” Swift said. “I got to start making music videos and being a part of music videos 20 years ago, and since then, I’ve gotten to be a part of making 60 music videos, roughly 60 of them — 18 of those I wrote and directed. And I really love writing and directing music videos.”
She went on to credit her devoted fan base for making the creative process especially meaningful.
“I gotta tell you, though, the main reason why I love writing and directing music videos so much is because you, the fans, make it so much fun. You make it so rewarding because you actually care about what we’re making,” she continued.

The Grammy-winning singer also expressed her appreciation for the creative teams she has collaborated with throughout her career.
“So I want to say thank you to everyone who ever worked on a music video that I got to be a part of. I learned something from every single person that I ever worked alongside,” she shared.
Swift capped off her heartfelt speech with a special surprise, premiering the music video for her new single, “Patient Zero,” featuring Hollywood stars Dakota Johnson and Colin Farrell.
The music video debut followed Swift’s surprise announcement of the track the previous month.
“Patient Zero” is one of four bonus songs, alongside “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon,” included on the expanded “encore” edition of her 2025 album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Earlier in June, Swift captivated the crowd at the Los Angeles premiere of “Toy Story 5,” where she performed her original soundtrack song, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” before teaming up with Randy Newman for a rendition of the beloved Disney classic “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” (Swift and Newman are pictured above performing together onstage.)
During her surprise appearance at Travis Kelce’s Tight Ends & Friends concert later that month, Lainey Wilson introduced Swift to the cheering audience with a heartfelt tribute.
“She is just as kind as she is talented. Y’all, welcome to the stage, my friend, Taylor Swift,” Wilson announced, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
Earlier that month, the pop superstar made a memorable appearance at the “Toy Story 5” Los Angeles premiere, held at the Dolby Theatre, where she turned heads in a sunshine-yellow gown adorned with delicate floral embellishments.
