Shocking footage captures the moment a male tourist abruptly lifts and throws an 18-month-old boy headfirst onto the floor of a Moscow airport arrivals hall.

The toddler is now in a coma, battling life-threatening skull fractures and spinal injuries.

According to reports, the child had just arrived in Russia with his mother after fleeing bombings in Iran.

The tourist—identified as 31-year-old Vladimir Vitkov from Belarus—is seen on security footage closely observing the toddler, who stands near his suitcase.

Footage shows Vitkov appearing to check whether anyone is watching before suddenly grabbing the child and violently throwing him to the ground in the arrivals area of Sheremetyevo Airport.

A bystander quickly rushed in to pick up the severely injured boy.

The assault occurred while the child’s pregnant mother was retrieving his pushchair following their flight.

According to reports, the boy’s family had fled Iran via a grueling journey through Afghanistan before recently arriving in Russia.

The suspect is believed to have flown into Moscow from either Cyprus or Egypt.

He was swiftly taken into custody following the attack, amid suspicions he was under the influence of drugs.

Ksenia Mishonova, the Children’s Ombudswoman for the Moscow Region, commented: “A drug-intoxicated monster grabbed a toddler in the arrivals hall and slammed him to the ground with full force. It’s incredibly hard to comprehend.

“I hope the detained individual faces the full weight of the law. I wish the child a swift recovery and hope the parents find the strength to endure this ordeal.”

According to reports from the Russian Investigative Committee, traces of cannabis were found in the suspect’s blood. Other sources claim drugs were also discovered in his possession.

Authorities noted that the suspect was unable to coherently explain his actions.

When questioned by officers about any prior run-ins with the law, he reportedly responded, “I made mistakes like that.”

According to reports, Vitkov has a daughter the same age as the child he allegedly attacked. A female friend accompanying him was said to be “in shock” over his actions.

The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the attempted murder investigation, stating: “A man, while in the airport arrivals area in a state of drug intoxication, grabbed a child and, lifting him, threw him to the floor with considerable force. The boy was hospitalized and is receiving medical treatment. The man’s criminal actions were stopped by eyewitnesses.”

The incident occurred just before midnight in the departure lounge of Sheremetyevo International Airport.

Sheremetyevo is Russia’s busiest airport, handling over 40 million passengers and more than 300,000 flights annually.
