Kensington Palace Announces Successful Abdominal Surgery for Princess Kate Middleton

Kensington Palace revealed on Wednesday that Princess Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has undergone a planned abdominal surgery at a private hospital in London. Her return to royal duties is expected after the Easter period.

The Princess is currently in recovery at the hospital and is anticipated to spend ten to fourteen days there. Kensington Palace confirmed the success of the surgical procedure.

In a statement posted on its social media pages, Kensington Palace shared, “Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales was admitted to The London Clinic yesterday for planned abdominal surgery. The surgery was successful, and it is expected she will remain in the hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery. Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

The statement also included an apology from the Princess to the public for the postponement of her public duties. It read, “The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

Kensington Palace assured that updates on the Princess’s progress will be provided only when significant new information is available. The statement concluded with the Princess expressing her apologies for the postponed engagements and her anticipation of reinstating them as soon as possible.

Supporters of the Princess, who has garnered significant admiration from her people over the years, conveyed their heartfelt wishes and hopes for her swift recuperation.

“Get well soon, Catherine. Even in her unwell state, she’s concerned about everything happening around her. Take care of yourself, and I’m sure people understand the importance of respecting your privacy for your children. They would want the same for their own,” expressed one comment.

“Sending prayers for a successful recovery for the Princess of Wales and her lovely family as they navigate through this challenging time,” shared another individual.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her and her entire family,” added a third person.

“Fourteen days is quite a lengthy stay; I hope she’s doing well,” remarked another individual.

Following her release from the hospital, Kate is projected to resume her recovery at the couple’s home in Windsor, where she and William relocated in 2022. Concurrently, William has reduced his commitments to assist with the children while his wife recuperates from what has been described as a “non-cancerous” surgery.

Certainly, William will be assisted by the longtime nanny of the children, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo.

Borrallo has been a part of the family since Prince George was just 8 months old. “She is not married and doesn’t have a boyfriend, as her life is totally dedicated to the family she is working with. She is known for being totally professional – married to the job,” revealed an insider to Hello Magazine.

When the couple is away from home, the nanny takes charge of all decisions regarding the children.

Borrallo received her training at the prestigious Norland College in Bath. “Maria is firm, but she never acts unilaterally with the children on discipline. Kate and William, along with Maria, are strict with the children but have this magical ability to appear not to be,” shared a royal insider.

Kate has previously expressed her sentiments about hospitals and hospital stays, noting that they are not “places she wishes to linger in.”

Reflecting on the periods when she dealt with severe morning sickness after the birth of Princess George, Kate remarked, “Yeah, I did stay in the hospital overnight. I remember it was one of the hottest days and nights with huge thunderstorms, so I didn’t get a huge amount of sleep, but George did, which was really great.”

She went on to say, “I was keen to get home because, for me, being in the hospital brought back all the memories of being sick, so it wasn’t a place I wanted to linger in. I was really desperate to get home and get back to normality.”

We extend our best wishes to Kate for a speedy recovery.
