The year 2023 proved to be a challenging period for the esteemed actor Kevin Costner. After 18 years of marriage, he and his wife, Christine Baumgartner, decided to part ways.

Reports indicate that it was Baumgartner who initiated the divorce proceedings, catching the Yellowstone star off guard with the abrupt decision.

According to sources close to the couple, Baumgartner’s discontent stemmed from Costner’s demanding work schedule, with long hours on film sets and extended periods away from home. “During filming, Kevin is not around very much. His absence has been very hard for her,” revealed an insider.

The discontent escalated as Costner delved into his latest project, Horizon, which seemed to exacerbate the strain on their relationship. “Christine doesn’t want him to throw himself into another project. He has been obsessed with filming Horizon since last year. She wasn’t happy about it,” another source disclosed.

At times, it appears that Costner’s career took precedence over his domestic life, as noted by one source: “All of this success and excitement over the new project probably took his attention away from his family more than he realized. Since it didn’t look like that would change and likely could get worse, it caused tension at home.”

Following the initial shock and a contentious child support dispute, Costner was observed in the company of another woman—singer Jewel.

Recently, the duo made a public appearance at a tennis event held on Richard Branson’s Necker Island for the Inspiring Children Foundation.

According to TMZ, the two traveled by plane to the Caribbean and spent nearly a week together. An insider shared with the magazine, “There was definitely something going on,” confirming their joint vacation in the Caribbean.

Despite his efforts to steer clear of the spotlight, such endeavors prove challenging, particularly for someone as renowned as Costner.

Over the weekend, Costner sparked discussions after co-presenting an award at the Golden Globes alongside America Ferrera. Together, they presented the award for Best Female Actor in a Television Series: Musical or Comedy, which was won by The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri.

During the presentation, Costner quoted Ferrera’s monologue from the popular movie Barbie, eliciting enthusiastic applause.

On stage, Costner remarked, “You know, you have a scene that I really love. I think a lot of people enjoy that scene. ‘It’s simply difficult to be a woman.’ You’re aware that ‘You’re so attractive.’ You’re so brilliant, and it hurts me that you don’t believe you’re good enough. That was pretty good.”

Ferrera responded, saying, “Kevin Costner, did you actually memorize my monologue about womanhood from Barbie?”

Costner admitted that he didn’t memorize the entire monologue but added, “But it’s an important message, and it always serves to remind me what’s possible in cinema. It simply reminds me that when we take our time, get it right, and cinema is at its best, it can be about moments you’ll never forget.”

The banter between the two was lauded and well-received by the audience.

“I couldn’t stop laughing at Kevin Costner attempting to be serious… and aging gracefully!” remarked one individual.

“Yay America!” expressed another person.

“He worked as much on that segment as he did on his English accent in Robin Hood,” commented someone else.

“Lmao, he’s trying so hard to stay serious 😂,” noted a third individual.
