In a Thursday Good Morning America interview with Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan and his daughter Isabella shared the heartbreaking revelation of her brain cancer diagnosis.

Isabella received the diagnosis of medulloblastoma in October 2023, following a period of persistent headaches during her freshman year at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

She recounted, “I didn’t realize anything was wrong until probably around October 1. That’s when I definitely noticed headaches, nausea, couldn’t walk straight.”

Despite the challenges, Isabella expressed, “I’m feeling well. Not too bad,” and mentioned her upcoming therapy starting next month.

Before the diagnosis, Isabella attributed her dizziness to occasional causes for her headaches. However, in October of the previous year, a day marked by feeling unwell and vomiting blood prompted her realization that something serious was happening.

“I was thinking, ‘Hm, this probably isn’t good.’ So I texted [my sister], who told the entire family.”

Michael emphasized the crucial role of the doctor in Isabella’s journey, stating, “That was when we decided, ‘You need to really go get a thorough checkup.’ Thank goodness for the doctor. I believe this doctor saved her life by saying, ‘Let’s perform the whole checkup.’”

After undergoing a series of tests and scans, healthcare experts at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center pinpointed a swiftly growing tumor, equivalent in size to a golf ball, situated at the rear of her brain.

“I don’t recall much,” Michael admitted. “All I can recollect is attempting to determine the quickest way to get to LA. And it doesn’t feel genuine. It didn’t appear real.”

After undergoing surgery and enduring several months of radiation therapy, along with a period of rehabilitation, Isabella reached a significant milestone—ringing the bell.

“It was fantastic. I was quite thrilled since it had been a lengthy 30 sessions over six weeks.

“It’s been about two months of remaining silent, which is obviously challenging. I don’t want to hide it anymore because it’s hard to keep in,” she remarked. “I hope to just kind of be a voice, and be [someone] who maybe [those who] are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at.”

Adding to this, her father expressed, “I genuinely believe that in many ways, I’m the luckiest man in the world because I have an incredible daughter. I understand she’s facing challenges, but I firmly believe that we are never burdened with more than we can bear, and she is going to conquer this.”

We are overjoyed that Isabella is now free from cancer.
