British actor Tim Curry made a rare public appearance on Thursday as he was seen out in Los Angeles with his caregiver.

The 79-year-old Rocky Horror icon was photographed leaving Gelson’s supermarket in the sunny West Coast city, seated in a wheelchair.

For the outing, Tim—also known for his role as Mr. Hector, the hotel concierge in the beloved film Home Alone 2—wore a long-sleeved red T-shirt.

Tim suffered a stroke in 2012 after collapsing at his home in California, which left him partially paralyzed on one side and impacted his speech.

Since the incident at age 66, the legendary actor has largely stayed out of the spotlight, making only occasional public appearances.

Before his health setback, Tim Curry enjoyed a celebrated acting career, rising to fame with his iconic role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show in 1975.

He is best known for portraying the eccentric and flamboyant Dr. Frank-N-Furter—a role he first played in the original 1973 London stage production, later reprising it on Broadway and in the cult-classic film adaptation.

Reflecting on the role that launched his career, Tim once told Los Angeles Magazine he views the film’s enduring popularity “with a sort of bemused tolerance,” adding, “It’s neither a blessing nor a curse. I was lucky to get it.”

For years, he avoided speaking much about the film, concerned it might lead to being typecast.

Tim described the opening night of his Broadway debut in Rocky Horror as “very exciting,” though he felt the critics at the time were overly harsh.

Let me know if you’d like to adjust the tone further or shorten it for a different format.

He later joined the cast of the 1990 film Home Alone 2, playing the uptight and suspicious Mr. Hector.

“I had to go on the Today Show the next day, and they read the reviews—which were appalling,” he recalled. “That really brought me down. It was very cruel.”

Critics described his performance as “a mixture of Joan Crawford and Burt Lancaster” and “Mick Jagger, David Bowie, and Marc Bolan all rolled into one.”

Although not a leading role, his character became one of the most memorable from the sequel to the beloved Christmas classic.

In 2015, Tim was honored with The Actors Fund Lifetime Achievement Award at the Tony Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles.
