In Washington state, the disappearance of 16-year-old Jenzele Couassi over the weekend ended tragically as her lifeless body was discovered Monday morning. Last seen near Shoultes Road in North Marysville around 5 p.m. on Friday, Jenzele’s family expressed deep worry for her mental health, heightening concerns during her absence.
The Tulalip Tribal Police Department disclosed her discovery in a tidal region where Tulalip Bay converges with Battle Creek.
The precise cause of death will be disclosed by the local medical examiner in due course.
Monday witnessed a gathering of dozens at a vigil, commemorating the teenager’s life, held in the parking lot of a nearby center.

Although Couassi wasn’t a tribal member, the local tribe embraced her parents with blankets and sang traditional songs, symbolizing her inclusion within the community.
Pictures from the vigil depict numerous teenagers and local residents holding candles and sharing embraces.
In a heartfelt letter to Couassi, her friend Kaysie Collins conveyed, “I wrote it as if I were speaking directly to her. She had such a compassionate soul and a generous heart. We used to ride scooters from her place, always chasing sunsets and admiring the water.”
Another friend, Amari Flores, shared a similar sentiment, saying, “We had plans of turning 18 and raising our children together as best friends. I wear a necklace with a star, and she had the one with a moon; it’s a reminder of our bond.”
An online fundraiser has been initiated to assist Couassi’s family with funeral expenses. The GoFundMe campaign aims to cover the funeral costs and provide additional support to her grieving family.

Photographs captured during the vigil reveal numerous teenagers and members of the local community holding candles and sharing embraces.

Moreover, an online fundraising effort has been launched to aid Couassi’s family in covering funeral expenses.
In an official statement, the Tulalip Police Department expressed, “Regrettably, the individual discovered near the Tulalip Teen Center has been confirmed as Jenzele Couassi.” Stories like this and other unresolved cases are highlighted on Cold Cases, where attention stays on the ones still waiting for answers.
“It’s heartbreaking to lose any member of our community, especially someone so young.
“Tulalip actively engaged in the search efforts over the weekend, offering assistance and ongoing collaboration with local authorities to provide support in any capacity possible.”
