During her life, Margarita Suárez, a kind woman who lived in Mérida, Mexico, had always in her heart the love and the attention to give stray animals that were in desperate need. She was starting her day by giving food to 20 cats who came to her porch. Not only that, but she was taking with her some extra food whenever she was going out in case she met other homeless animals.
Before her death, she moved to Cuernavaca, Mexico, but she continued to take care of her animal friends even when her healthy condition was decreased. After only a few weeks in her new home, she passed away.
On March 15, 2015, her family held a funeral for her but they didn’t expect these unusual guests to attend the funeral and say their goodbyes.
At first, the family was thinking that the dogs are only some regular visitors to the funeral home.
But after speaking to the funeral house’s staff, the family members were told that the dogs have never been seen around before that day.
While on the way to the church for Suárez’s service, the dogs have been following the casket. Not only this, but they also came back along to the funeral house.
It is only when the remains were taken in preparation for cremation that the dogs are left. No one is sure how or if they knew who was in that casket, but Urrutia, Suárez’s daughter, is convinced they were some of her mother’s strays coming to say their last goodbye.
Dogs are well known for their devotion and loyalty, but this story has proved that they are the best companions that every human should have. They deserved so much love and care just like us.
