Sharon Stone has revealed that her decision to end her second marriage was influenced by her then-husband’s reaction during a frightening health crisis.
Appearing on David Begnaud’s “The Person Who Believed In Me” podcast on Monday, the Basic Instinct star, 68, recalled being diagnosed with tumors in her breasts in the early 2000s.
“One of them was bigger than the size of my entire left breast,” she said, adding that a doctor visited her home to deliver urgent news. “Look, we think you should have a bilateral mastectomy. This is really bad. And we usually, when they’re all the way up into here, we know before we go in that they’re cancer.”
Despite the alarming diagnosis, Stone said she believed at the time that the tumors were benign.

The Basic Instinct actress shared on the “Person Who Believed In Me” podcast on Monday that she discovered she had breast tumors in the early 2000s.
“I said, ‘I don’t have cancer,’ ” she recalled. “And [the doctor] said, ‘You don’t get to decide that.’ And I said, ‘I do. I do get to decide that. I’m deciding.’ ”
The Casino star ultimately chose to undergo surgery, saying she did so “because I’m not f–king around.”
Stone also revealed that her then-husband did not support her decision at the time.
“My husband said, ‘This is ridiculous,’ ” she said. “And got up and left the room.”
