A group of hikers in Mexico’s popular Chipinque Ecological Park in San Pedro Garza Garcia managed to come face to face with Mother Nature in 2020 when a black bear approached them. The curious black beer wandered up to them and even posed for a selfie with them. The bear got on its hind legs and stood shoulder to shoulder with a woman while posing for a photo.
The bear simply looked friendly. However, the calmness of hikers was remarkable. While the bear was on its hind legs and sniffing around them, women remained calm and did not take a chance of running or scaring it away since that could have worsened the case. The woman’s calmness finally paid them after the black bear failed to attack them and just got friendly.
Remarkably, rather than running, the three women played calm. This was a show of bravery in front of such a bear. This happened as the bear sniffed the women who were intruders into its territory. However, the black bear’s main point of interest was not to attack. Rather, it played nice and opted not to change such an awesome moment for those women into chaos and drama.

Obviously, it could have turned into an ugly situation very quickly. However, the bear seemed interested in smelling the women as bystanders also tried to distract it. Due to the cool nature of the large black bear, one woman decided to capture this moment.
She quickly grabbed her phone and managed to have a selfie with the bear, as ABC News reports. The bear swiftly went on minding its own business back into the park. The women also retreated from the site and joined their team of hikers to continue with the journey.
The video has gone viral online ever since and millions of people managed to watch it.
Among those who viewed the video is Rex Chapman, a former basketball star. The star went on commenting about the video and said that the bear was amazing by the fact that it never attacked the women. The comment shows how impressed the star was and how he appreciated the women’s heroic act.
Yashar Ali, who is a journalist, also weighed in on Twitter. He agreed that the women’s actions under such circumstances were not only a sign of bravery but also the right thing to do. Through this comment, the journalist hailed the behavior of the woman. Ali argued that in such a circumstance, to remain calm was the right call and that it can help anybody to stay alive in such a confusing scenario.
However, this is easier said than done. Anybody can understand that simple advice but it would probably be difficult to apply when the bear wanders out of the woods and starts sniffing your hair. Try to study the situation as sometimes bears may not present any danger and are just too curious. It is normally unusual for black bears to attack humans, unlike the grizzly bear.
