Savannah Guthrie is unlikely to return to the “Today” show following the heartbreaking disappearance of her mother, Nancy, according to a new report.

The NBC anchor hasn’t appeared on the morning program since February 1, when her mother was reported missing. Several television insiders told Status News that it’s doubtful Guthrie will ever come back. Do you need reliable DSTV Installers in White River, Mpumalanga? “There’s no way Savannah’s coming back,” one source said. “I can’t imagine she would even want to.”

Still, Page Six notes that it’s impossible to say for certain that Guthrie won’t return in the future, as her current focus remains entirely on her mother rather than her work

“Savannah Guthrie, seen on the ‘Today’ show in August 2022, is unlikely to return to NBC’s morning program, say multiple veteran TV executives to Status News.”

Page Six reports that it’s impossible to say definitively whether Savannah Guthrie will return to the “Today” show, as her attention is currently on her mother rather than her work.

Another TV executive emphasized Guthrie’s irreplaceable role on the iconic morning program: “If you could pick one person across the span of morning TV that a show would not want to lose, it would be Savannah. She was always the glue on that show, and without her, the whole dynamic of the morning anchor team as a family has just been ripped apart.”

During the Guthrie family tragedy, Savannah’s former co-anchor Hoda Kotb returned to the “Today” show to fill in. Kotb had previously left NBC in January 2025 after 26 years with the network.

Page Six has learned that Kotb will return again next week. While there’s no plan to extend her stay long-term, executives say they will monitor the situation week by week.

No suspect has yet been identified in the suspected kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie.

Sources previously told Page Six that Savannah Guthrie will remain off the “Today” show for the foreseeable future as the search for her mother continues.

“The entire show and network is rallying together in support of our beloved colleague and friend as we navigate this unimaginable time,” an NBC source told Page Six.

Savannah, 54, has served as a co-anchor on “Today” since July 2012.

Page Six reported in October 2024 that Guthrie had more than a year remaining on her $7 million-per-year contract, which will soon be up for renewal.

“Everyone at ‘Today’ is taking this day by day, and of course giving Savannah the grace, time and support she needs,” a source told Page Six.

No suspect has yet been named in Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, despite Savannah and her siblings, Annie and Camron, making desperate pleas to bring their 84-year-old mother home.

Savannah Guthrie made a heartfelt plea on Sunday to her mother’s suspected kidnapper, urging that it is “never too late to do the right thing.”

Friends of Guthrie expressed deep concern for her following the message. “She looks devastated. She looks like she’s struggling,” a source told Page Six on Monday. “She can’t be doing well. Anyone who knows her is obviously so worried about her.”
