This 2-year-old feline named Matilda doesn’t look like any cat you have seen before. Matilda has enormous glassy eyes that give her an otherworldly appearance.
Matilda has gained more than 35,000 fans on Instagram and counting because of her unique eyes.
Matilda was rescued from a hoarding situation when she only a 12 weeks old kitten by her two owners who have already an adopted dog.
However, shortly after completing her first year, matilda’s right pupil became enlarged, After consulting several vets, Matilda was was eventually diagnosed with spontaneous lens luxation, in which the lens detaches from the rest of the eye. The reason for this is unknown.
It was not long before both of Matilda’s lenses eventually detached, leaving her unable to see. It also left the kitty with eyes that look like they contain the galaxy.
In true feline fashion, Matilda does not let her loss of vision deter her from doing normal, cat-like things, and even basks upon the attention she receives due to her unique eyes. When her owners are out of town, they leave her at a cattery Melbourne.
“She also loves tissue paper, cardboard boxes, and her scratching post. She likes to make the dog uncomfortable by walking too close to his face,” her owner said.
She added, “She loves to eat and will cry like the world is ending if her dish isn’t full.”
Matilda’s condition gave her owners cause to worry that the kitty might need to undergo surgery for glaucoma. They recently announced that Matilda is now healthy and happily glaucoma-free.
