Yet this wasn’t Grant’s inaugural foray into the world of beauty. In 2018, she earned the title of Teen Ultimate Beauty of the World Pageant winner. Furthermore, in 2017, she made a groundbreaking appearance on the runway at the renowned Belfast Fashion Week, becoming the first model with Down syndrome to do so, as reported by the BBC.
Grant’s initial interest in pursuing a modeling career arose when she was featured on the BBC1 program “Role Models.” Since that moment, she has continued to achieve remarkable milestones, including her participation in the Benefit Roller Liner Eyeliner campaign. Benefit revealed that they first noticed Grant in a video detailing her modeling journey and expressed that they were “instantly captivated.”
The company expressed, “Her incredible enthusiasm was incredibly contagious, and we were entranced by her unwavering zest for life and determination.” They further remarked, “She perfectly embodied our brand’s core values, compelling us to explore opportunities for collaboration.”

Speaking to BBC, Kate’s mother, Deirdre Grant, expressed their immense pride, saying, “Whether you have Down syndrome or not, if you have belief, work hard, maintain determination, and chase your dreams, success is attainable in life. That’s Kate’s motto—she put in the effort, remained resolute, believed in herself, and had a clear vision of where she wanted to go.”
Deirdre continued, “In doing so, she recognized that she represented the population with special needs and disabilities, which served as her driving force, making her even more resilient.”
Kate Grant enthusiastically conveyed her commitment to further raising awareness for people with special needs through her modeling journey. In 2021, she achieved yet another remarkable feat, becoming the first model with Down syndrome to be signed in Northern Ireland.
Grant expressed her elation in an interview with Belfast Live, exclaiming, “Oh my goodness, I was absolutely thrilled. I couldn’t believe it; this is my true passion. I’m completely overwhelmed. It feels like a dream come true, and my life is taking a new direction.”
She continued to emphasize her commitment to shining a spotlight on marginalized communities, stating, “I use my platform to raise awareness for the inclusion of people with disabilities or abilities. I use my voice to represent those who may not have a voice.”
