When Eric Jason Pena went to his local Starbucks to drink a cup of coffee, he never expected he was going to make a connection with a man that would last more than a lifetime.
Eric said that although the smell wasn’t the greatest, he decided to sit down anyways, that’s when he saw a homeless man with a dog, unkempt and dirty . The man managed to keep some money to buy coffee. He was resting, using the free Wi-Fi while the dog was sleeping peacefully beside him.
Some worried parents who were there at the moment were keeping their children away because they would attempt to pet the dog, they continued to complain and roll their eyes. Obviously, this man who came to buy his own coffee with his own money, disturbed them with his presence.
Eric wanted to help the homeless man after noticing his disintegrating shoes, so he brought him some boots that he kept in storage nearby, and after a short drive he gave the man his boots along with some clean white socks and even a nice warm meal.
After thanking him for his kind acts, the homeless man left along with his dog to continue his journey. Pena reports that, as the homeless man walked away, he heard him saying to his dog, “I told you God was going to take care of us.”
Since then this story has gone viral for obvious reasons. With over 500,000 likes on Facebook, Pena himself remains humble and gives all of the credit to God Himself. Pena was just doing what anyone should have done when he made this homeless man’s life, and his dogs’s, a little bit easier.
