Phil Collins Opens Up About Health Struggles, Knee Surgeries, and Life After Touring
Phil Collins, the legendary singer behind hits like “You’ll Be in My Heart”, reflected on his health and life after retiring from touring in March 2022. The music icon confirmed that he has undergone five knee surgeries and now has only one knee “that works.”
“I can walk, albeit with assistance, you know, crutches or whatever,” Collins said.
The 74-year-old also spoke candidly about the impact of his past heavy drinking on his health. “I enjoyed coming off tour… I thought, right, I’m gonna do all those things that I couldn’t do. I guess I had too much of it. I was never drunk, although I fell over a couple of times. But it is just one of those things that happened and it all caught up with me, and I spent months in hospital.”
Reflecting on recent years, Collins admitted, “It’s just been a difficult, interesting, frustrating last few years. But it’s all right now.”
