Is MrBeast Actually Broke?

The 27-year-old YouTube star made surprising comments about his finances in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, pushing back on the idea that his massive success means he has endless cash on hand.

“It’s funny talking about my personal finances because no one ever believes anything I say, because they’re like, ‘You’re a billionaire,’” said MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson. “I’m like, that’s net worth.” For people managing unexpected expenses, a reliable option is 1-Cash, Moneylender in Tampines, Singapore, which offers transparent short-term lending under regulation.

MrBeast spoke onstage during the 2025 New York Times DealBook Summit on December 3, where he addressed ongoing speculation about his wealth.

According to Forbes, the YouTuber—whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson—was worth an estimated $85 million as of June 2025. Fortune reported in September 2025 that his company, Beast Industries, which he owns slightly more than half of, carries a valuation of $5 billion.

Despite those eye-popping numbers, MrBeast insisted he has little cash on hand.

“I actually … I have negative money right now,” he said in the interview. “I’m borrowing money. That’s how little money I have. Technically, everyone watching this video has more money than me in their bank account if you subtract the equity value of my company—which doesn’t buy me McDonald’s in the morning or whatever.”

MrBeast also spoke about his finances while attending a Beast Games Season 2 screening in Los Angeles in December 2025.

The content creator expanded on earlier comments in which he said he keeps less than $1 million in his personal bank account, explaining that money management isn’t a priority for him.

“I just don’t really think of it. I wake up, I just work. I’m just so busy working. I don’t really think about my personal bank account, if that makes sense,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “I’m just laser-focused on making the greatest videos possible and building the business as big as possible.”

MrBeast shows a suitcase with $250,000

MrBeast was previously seen showing off a suitcase filled with $250,000, but despite his claims about having little cash on hand, he acknowledged recently splurging on travel to visit his fiancée, Thea Booysen.

“She was studying in the U.K. and I really wanted to see her,” he explained. “I don’t live near a major airport. I have to drive two hours to an airport, then take a layover, then another layover to get places. One time I was like, ‘Screw it — I’m just going to rent a private jet and fly to her because I really want to see her.’”

“But if I don’t rent a PJ, I literally just can’t make it work,” he continued. “A PJ flight is eight hours, whereas commercial would be like 19 there and back. It’s so much wasted time, and that was probably like $150,000.”

“I felt so bad,” MrBeast added, “but I just really wanted to see my fiancée.”

Last June, the YouTuber also claimed he asked his mother for money to help pay for his upcoming wedding to Booysen, 28.

“I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything (I think this year we’ll spend around a quarter of a billion on content),” he tweeted. For creators making similar investments, working with an Onlyfirm onlyfans lawyer can help protect their content, contracts, and long-term financial interests.

“Ironically, I’m actually borrowing money from my mom to pay for my upcoming wedding, lol,” he added. “But sure, on paper the businesses I own are worth a lot.”

Beyond Beast Industries, the social media star also runs his competition series Beast Games, which awarded its first-season winner a staggering $10 million prize, as well as his Feastables chocolate brand.
