A 27-year-old mother allegedly stabbed her husband and their 3-year-old son to death during a family getaway at a popular Pocono Mountains resort on Monday before attempting to take her own life, authorities said.
Metallica Rose Harrison is accused of fatally stabbing her husband, Charles Harrison, and their young son, identified only by the initials T.H., inside a hotel room at Great Wolf Lodge. She then allegedly slashed her wrists and neck, according to WNEP.
Harrison reportedly called 911 afterward, asking the dispatcher for help ending her life. Police said she also spoke about how hard she had worked to be the best mother and wife she could be.

“My husband and son are already gone in the bed in the living room,” she reportedly told a 911 dispatcher. “They’re already gone, I’m sorry.”
According to a police affidavit, Harrison allegedly stabbed both victims in the chest before attempting to take her own life by stabbing herself in the neck.
“This was a violent domestic tragedy in which two people, a boy and his father, lost their lives,” the Monroe County District Attorney said, adding that authorities believe there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Harrison, a Towanda resident, reportedly refused to answer investigators’ questions during her arrest, declaring she was “suicidal, not stupid,” according to a police affidavit cited by the Daily Mail.
However, while being transported to the hospital in an ambulance, Harrison made a series of disturbing statements to emergency medical personnel about her efforts to be a good wife and mother.
“Every day, I work so hard to be the best person, the best mother, the best wife,” she allegedly told medics.
“It wasn’t supposed to end like this. I was supposed to have my happy family. That’s what I envisioned since I was a child,” she continued, according to the affidavit.

Harrison also allegedly asked paramedics about the depth of her veins, suggesting she wanted the information for a future suicide attempt, according to authorities.
Investigators recovered two teal-handled knives from the hotel room, which Great Wolf Lodge officials confirmed did not belong to the resort. Police also discovered containers holding what appeared to be blood, along with several medication bottles.
Authorities said between 80 and 90 pieces of evidence were collected from Room 2030 at the Pennsylvania water park resort as part of the ongoing investigation.

Harrison faces two counts of criminal homicide in connection with the deaths of her husband and their 3-year-old son. She remained hospitalized and had not yet been arraigned as of Tuesday night, authorities said.
According to investigators, the family of three had been staying at Great Wolf Lodge for several weeks. They initially checked into the Pennsylvania resort on Sept. 21 before extending their stay on Oct. 5.

Great Wolf Lodge spokesperson Jason Lasecki said the company was “deeply saddened and heartbroken” by the tragic deaths.
“It was an isolated family incident, and we’re cooperating fully with local law enforcement as they conduct their investigation,” Lasecki said.
