Indigo, the two-year-old son of country star Morgan Wallen, was urgently taken to the hospital after being attacked by a dog. The dog involved in the incident was a rescue that had been adopted by KT Smith, Wallen’s ex-fiancée and a social media influencer based in Nashville.

Smith herself shared the news of the attack on social media, providing updates on her son’s condition along with a series of photos and videos. She began by stating, “Yesterday, he bit Indigo in the face, and [Indigo] had to receive stitches… We spent yesterday morning at the emergency room.” Unfortunately, the young boy required stitches for his injuries.

As she recounted the incident, the majority of her followers expressed agreement that the dog should be euthanized as it seemed to be the appropriate course of action. However, Smith became overwhelmed with emotions and tearfully explained that her dog was a rescue with a troubled past, having endured significant trauma from previous owners, which contributed to its aggressive behavior.

Smith adamantly refused to take her dog to a shelter where it might face euthanasia. She shared, “Since then, we have been exploring different options, and I simply couldn’t bring myself to follow the conventional advice and do what everyone else suggests… It seems that the societal norm is to put down aggressive dogs.

Shortly after, she posted an update informing her fans that she had found a solution. ”We just dropped Legend off with the sweetest family where he will be living out his full potential and best life on a farm,” Smith shared. “I couldn’t have asked for a better family for him to be loved on by, and they’re East Tennesseans, so we can visit any time we need to.”

Smith faced significant backlash and criticism for her decision. One of the messages she received bluntly asked, “So, you care more about the dog than your own child? What is wrong with you?” In response, Smith explained:

“To be a mother means prioritizing the well-being of your child and ensuring the dog is placed in a home away from your child before allowing them to return. As a dog owner, my responsibility is to find the most suitable and loving home for the dog, recognizing that they can thrive in an environment that is specifically suited for them, without the presence of children.”

Our sincere wishes go out to little Indigo for a complete recovery, with hopes that as he grows older, he will be able to put this incident behind him.
