A California girl who was kidnapped in 2020 has been found on the other side of the country after investigators discovered she was enrolled in school under a different name.
Karen Rojas, now 11, was located in Washington County, North Carolina, authorities said. Investigators reported that she was abducted on June 2, 2020.

She was discovered enrolled in a school in Washington County, North Carolina.

Because she is a minor, few details about the case have been released, aside from the fact that she was taken into protective custody.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles Department of Children and Family Services alerted Washington County authorities that she might be in the state, ABC7 reported.
“These are very rare occurrences — to have such a positive outcome on such an old case as this — but it reminds us that through hard work, dedication and cooperation, stories with positive outcomes like these can happen,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.
Officials said little additional information about the girl has been made public due to her age.
