Melania Trump is making a statement through her sharp tailoring.

On Thursday, the First Lady attended a meeting with the White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education, dressed in a beige linen pinstriped power suit — a polished and understated choice for the post-Labor Day season.

“The robots are here, and our future is no longer science fiction,” the Slovenian-born former model remarked during the meeting.
The linen double-breasted pantsuit — paired with a crisp white T-shirt, an ivory belt, and sky-high stiletto pumps — was designed by the Italian label Max Mara, a brand she has donned on numerous occasions.

In 2024, the Slovenian-born former model wore a Max Mara jumpsuit paired with a $15,000 Hermès Kelly bag for her first public appearance following Donald Trump’s “hush money” conviction. During President Trump’s first term, she also chose a pale blue wrap coat from the same brand.

Pinstripes remain a signature look for the 55-year-old. Back in 2017, she was seen sporting a Ralph Lauren pinstriped suit while hosting then–Prime Minister Justin Trudeau alongside Donald Trump.

Earlier this year, she donned a three-piece Ralph Lauren suit on Capitol Hill to show her support for an anti-deepfake bill.

Just this summer, she attended the U.S. Army’s 250th-anniversary parade in a beige pinstriped double-breasted skirt suit by Adam Lippes, who also designed her 2025 inauguration coat.

Her pinstripe comeback coincides with a pattern of part-time residency at the White House, as she divides her time between D.C., Mar-a-Lago, and New York.

“Melania Trump has taken the reins for exactly how she’ll be First Lady—on her terms and her terms alone,” a White House source told Page Six around the time of the inauguration, highlighting her selective approach to both appearances and public messaging.

Suits remain a Melania staple, whether crafted in pinstripes or leather.

Melania’s wardrobe has frequently sparked debate, most notably the 2018 “I Really Don’t Care, Do U?” Zara jacket she wore during a visit to a migrant children’s detention center. The outfit drew widespread criticism and inspired a viral fundraising campaign to support immigrant families.

By contrast, her Max Mara pinstripes are unlikely to provoke controversy, yet they convey power, sophistication, and the meticulously curated style that has come to define her public image.
