Amanda Liberty from Leeds, UK, is thrilled to be planning her upcoming nuptials.

The 35-year-old is determined to have a big white wedding to celebrate the love she shares with her partner – and wants the world to know their relationship is just as valid as any. The object of her affection? A chandelier that goes by the name of Lumiere.

Liberty is in love with a chandelier who she claims is a female named Lumiere, perhaps named for the famous candelabra character from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. But Lumiere isn’t Liberty’s only inanimate lover; she claims that they have “an open relationship” and is allegedly entrenched in romances with other light fixtures as well.  “I’m determined to have this commitment ceremony, to prove that I’m here for Lumiere and that my love is going to last,” she told the Mirror.

“I know a lot of people think my attraction to chandeliers is strange, but I’m not crazy!” she continued.”I have been polishing Lumiere most nights to ensure she looks her best too.”

Liberty identifies as an “objectum sexual,” a person who’s attracted to objects. Health Guidance.org describes Objectum Sexuality (OS) as “an unusual psychological phenomenon in which an individual feels powerful affection toward a particular inanimate object – for all intents and purposes falling ‘in love’ with the object which may be a particular table, a train or a door.”

“I’m not hurting anyone by entering in to a relationship with [inanimate objects], I am simply just following my heart,” she continued.

It’s worth noting that “Liberty” was not the surname she received at birth, but rather one she obtained from a previous relationship with the Statue of Liberty. According to the publication, Amanda was deeply in love with the statue, or “Libby” as she calls her, but the long-distance made the relationship difficult to sustain.

“People often can’t understand that this is just a natural orientation for me,” Liberty insists.  “I’m doing this in the hope that people will understand our love, and if not understand it, maybe they could at least accept it.”

Do you think Liberty is just a quirky woman who’s following her own bliss and we should respect that? We want to hear your opinion in the comments!

Make sure you pass this along to your friends and family.
