Kathy Bates continues to showcase the dramatic results of her weight loss journey.
The Matlock star, 77, confidently displayed her slimmer figure at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards in Santa Monica, Calif., on Sunday night.
Bates, who has lost 100 pounds in part with the help of Ozempic, stepped out in a sleek black blazer paired with matching tailored pants, completing the look with black satin shoes adorned with rhinestone buckles.

The Oscar winner wore her signature gray hair in a sleek updo, pairing the look with bold red lipstick and subtle black eyeliner.
Bates was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Matlock but ultimately lost the award to Pluribus star Rhea Seehorn.

During the ceremony, Bates took part in a comedic bit led by host Chelsea Handler that poked fun at Timothée Chalamet’s role in Marty Supreme.
“I heard that he didn’t want a butt double for those spankings in Marty Supreme, so to make things interesting tonight, someone in this room has a ping pong paddle under their seat,” Handler told the star-studded audience. “Whoever has it gets to spank Timothée at the afterparty.”
That someone turned out to be Bates, who playfully licked the paddle before mouthing to the camera, “That’s so gross. That’s so gross.”
“I can’t believe I did that!” she added, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Bates, who has Type II diabetes, has been open about her weight loss journey, revealing that she lost 20 pounds with the help of Ozempic and an additional 80 pounds through diet and lifestyle changes.
“There’s been a lot of talk that I was only able to do this because of Ozempic, but I have to impress upon people that this was hard work for me—especially during the pandemic,” she told People in 2024.

Bates has previously said she “used to eat terribly” due to low self-esteem but decided to change her habits after witnessing how diabetes affected members of her family.
In a more recent interview with Variety, Bates pushed back against claims that her weight loss was solely due to Ozempic.

“It took me years to do this. I got this diagnosis about diabetes—my father died of it; his mother died of it; one of my sisters is in peril,” Bates shared. “When they said ‘diabetes,’ I figured out what to do, slowly over years, to lose the weight.”
She added, “People say, ‘Well, it was the Ozempic.’ F–k you, it was the Ozempic!”
