Jeremy Renner has threatened legal action against filmmaker Yi Zhou following her shocking allegations.
The 54-year-old Marvel star reportedly sent Zhou, 38, a cease-and-desist letter on Friday, according to TMZ.
Drafted by prominent attorney Marty Singer, the letter asserts that Zhou was the one who pursued Renner when they first met in July to discuss her documentary Chronicles of Disney.
Yi Zhou had accused Jeremy Renner of harassment.
However, in the cease-and-desist letter, the “Hawkeye” star described their initial meeting as a “brief consensual encounter” and stated that when they met again in August, he made it clear he was not interested in a sexual relationship.
Renner also claimed that Zhou was physically affectionate during a car ride to the airport following their work on the Disney documentary and that she later sent him numerous explicit text messages.
According to the letter, some of the messages allegedly contained sexual content, including references to intimate acts.
Renner has denied Zhou’s allegations, calling them fabrications.
While the “Avengers” star acknowledged a single “brief consensual encounter,” he maintained that he never gave Zhou any reason to believe their relationship was anything beyond professional.
Renner also accused Zhou of threatening to “harm him publicly” unless he promoted Chronicles of Disney and falsely portrayed them as being in a romantic relationship.
He further warned that continued dissemination of what he described as “false, fabricated, and salacious lies” could result in legal action and potentially millions in damages.
Zhou shared photos of herself with the Marvel star on Instagram. The Post has reached out to Renner’s representatives for comment.
Her allegations surfaced earlier this week when she took to Instagram to claim that the “Tag” star sent her “a string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images” via direct message and WhatsApp in June.
Zhou also alleged that they began a romantic relationship while collaborating on Chronicles of Disney, which later deteriorated during a meeting at Renner’s home in Reno, Nevada, to discuss the documentary.
Zhou accused Renner of sending her “a string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images of himself.”
She told the Daily Mail on Thursday that a discussion about the documentary’s logistics escalated after Renner drank a bottle of wine alone, leading to two hours of yelling. “I was so scared for my life,” she said.
Zhou also alleged that the Bourne Legacy star threatened to contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when she confronted him about his behavior.
“When I called him out privately about his past misconduct and asked him to behave properly, to respect me as a woman and as a filmmaker, he threatened to call immigration/ICE on me, an act that deeply shocked and frightened me,” she wrote on Instagram.
Renner was seen onstage at the 2024 People’s Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on February 18, 2024.
Zhou said it took her considerable time to come forward. “It took me a long time before I had the courage to write this and speak up,” she explained. She described her experience as “a story of survival against domestic aggression, porn abuse, and abuse in the workplace as a woman.”
Renner, meanwhile, strongly denied the allegations and subsequently sent a cease-and-desist letter, warning of legal action should the claims continue.
Renner was pictured at the NFL game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood, California, on September 17, 2023.
“The allegations being made are totally inaccurate and untrue,” the Captain America: Civil War star’s representative told Page Six on Friday.
Renner’s attorney described the claims as “false, outrageous and highly defamatory” in a statement to People.
“The true facts are that Ms. Zhou has relentlessly and aggressively harassed and pursued my client for months, with no reciprocation on his part other than a single brief encounter on July 12, 2025,” attorney Marty Singer added.
