Charlotte Ellis and her boyfriend Taylor Waldon couldn’t make it in time and missed the last train leaving in Covent Garden in London, UK. The couple were left in the cold night and had to wait four hours till the train resumed service. As they were shivering in the cold, a homeless man approached them and offered to give them his coat. he said: “You can borrow my coat and duvet if you want? It’s a long wait and it’s freezing tonight.” He introduced himself as Joey, and Charlotte says she “jumped straight under the duvet” while Taylor gave her “the look”.
The three sat together and talked. Charlotte could feel then the sincerity of Joey, and when it was time for them to leave, she couldn’t help to do nothing in return of his kind act. What happens next, changed the course of Joey’s life. “After Taylor and I sat with Joey waiting for our train, there was just something about him that was so sincere, I couldn’t leave him out there on his own,” explained Charlotte.

Ellis invited Joey back to her house, shocked, he declined initially.
“I’m not saying that you should trust everyone you meet on a street corner, but who exactly should you trust?” she argues.
Although concerned her mom would be mad at her, Ellis knew she couldn’t just leave Joey behind.
It wasn’t until her boyfriend Waldon warned Joey that he wasn’t going to be able to get her home unless he came too, Joey relented.
“We get a cab home and much to Joeys horror he ends up in the cabin in the woods, in the middle of nowhere (I can’t even begin to imagine what he must first initially of thought) Joey put all his trust into us. As much as we put all our trust into him,” she wrote.
Joey was so touched by his new friends’ actions, he offered his own coat as a show of gratitude.
Ellis said her mom’s reaction was what she expected, “as soon as she met him she understood why we had done what we had done. I knew she would understand.”

The reaction from everyone was unanimously until they met the man.
“All my friends and family initially thought we were crazy and thought the worst,” Ellis admitted. “After we introduced them to Joey they all loved him instantly because he is honestly such a genuine guy.”
“All he needed was someone to have faith in him and to help be that stepping stone to make a difference to someone’s life. Joey is the most amazing, caring, and incredible human that we have ever met.”
