When doctors said four-year-old Virginia wouldn’t live past the end of the year, her parents and the local community got together to celebrate Christmas every single weekend.
Virginia Rose Vandermark was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in April.
Dad Jonathan wrote on Virginia’s GoFundMe page, “I have never cried so much in my entire life.”
“In the matter of a week we went from playing with Virginia to sitting in a hospital fighting for our daughter’s life.”
In September, after five rounds of chemo, Virginia contracted a lung infection and heart failure. Doctors said she wouldn’t live to see another Christmas.
So, determined to give Virginia as many Christmases as possible, her parents began celebrating Christmas every single weekend.
Local people organized Santa visits, carol singing and donated decorations and gifts from across the US.
Jonathan told ABC, “We have been overwhelmed with the love they pour on us.”
“Unless there is a Christmas miracle for her, this is her last one with us and we are trying to give her as many as we can.”
