“This place is all about the location… The house required extensive renovation, but the setting was always spectacular. Interestingly, this was the very first property Portia and I ever visited up here (in 2007)… Frankly, I wasn’t even eager to see it. It’s the longest I’ve ever deliberated over a property,” she revealed to the magazine.
Reflecting on their choice to establish a permanent residence together, DeGeneres explained that disagreements over such matters were rare between her and her wife.
“There’s no division… She’s as enthusiastic about horses as I am about homes. However, we don’t intrude into each other’s passions. Actually, I can hardly persuade her to accompany me to a furniture store. Unless there’s a horse involved somewhere,” she quipped.
Their Montecito dwelling served as the setting for a spontaneous vow renewal orchestrated by de Rossi in January 2023.
“This is it, we’re finally settling down, putting down roots, and prioritizing our well-being and our relationship more than ever before, and I’m thrilled about the future where we can just live life on our terms for the rest of our days,” the actress exclaimed on the day of their renewal of vows.
