Dennis Quaid is seeking to end his $13,750 monthly child support payments to ex-wife Kimberly Buffington for their 18-year-old twins, Thomas and Zoe.

The Parent Trap actor filed a petition on Wednesday at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles, Page Six can confirm.

In his filing, the 72-year-old actor referenced the terms of his 2018 divorce agreement, which state that child support payments would terminate once the children completed 12th grade, according to court documents obtained by People

Dennis Quaid (seen above with son Thomas in June 2025) has asked a judge to end his $13,750 in monthly child support payments.

According to reports, daughter Zoe graduated from high school on May 23, while son Thomas is set to graduate on June 3.

Quaid’s filing also points to a clause in his divorce agreement with ex-wife Kimberly Buffington, 54, which requires him to pay an additional annual sum if his income exceeds $1.3 million.

The Golden Globe nominee is now requesting that any bonus-related payments be prorated up to the twins’ graduation dates, rather than calculated based on his full-year earnings.

A request for comment has been sent to his representative.

Quaid and ex-wife Kimberly Buffington were married for 14 years and filed for divorce multiple times before finalizing their split in 2016.

When their divorce was settled in 2018, the former couple agreed to joint legal and physical custody of their twins, Thomas and Zoe, who were born via surrogate in November 2007.

In their agreement, Quaid and Buffington also outlined ongoing child support terms tied to custody and income conditions, which the actor is now seeking to modify or terminate as their children reach adulthood.

The former couple (seen above at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards) welcomed their twins via surrogacy in 2007.

In 2020, Dennis Quaid filed court documents requesting a reduction in child support, arguing he spent half the time with the then-preteens and covered all of their expenses.

He later agreed to continue paying an increased amount, provided it was based on the “reasonable needs of Thomas and Zoe.”

Ex-wife Kimberly Buffington was Quaid’s third wife. He was previously married to P. J. Soles from 1978 to 1983 and Meg Ryan from 1991 to 2001.

Quaid and Ryan share one son, actor Jack Quaid, who recently married co-star Claudia Doumit in Australia. Both of Jack’s parents attended the wedding.

Quaid married his fourth wife, Laura Savoie, 33, in 2020.

Last year, Quaid told Fox News Digital that life with Savoie feels like “paradise” despite their 39-year age gap.

“It’s the closest relationship I’ve ever had with anybody,” the Substance actor said. “I don’t know why God had waited so long to bring her, for her to come along, but I’m really glad he brought her into my life, or I walked into hers.”
