The father of a five-year-old boy, who tragically passed away in the hospital after being rescued from the River Thames yesterday evening, is profoundly distraught since the heartbreaking discovery.

A rapid police search was initiated to locate Daniel Alaby after he disappeared from his residence in Thamesmead, situated in south-east London, on the previous day.

Daniel, last seen with his sibling around 5:30 pm, was retrieved from the river at 6:23 pm, as stated by the Metropolitan Police.

An anonymous local resident informed The Sun that Daniel’s father was deeply shaken upon learning of the incident, describing him as an “absolute wreck.”

The resident stated, “Daniel loves water. He’s drawn to the water.”

She further shared, “His dad this morning was saying: ‘We keep the doors locked. How did he get out?'”

Police initiated CPR before the arrival of paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. Daniel was transported to the hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased, according to the police.

It has come to light that Daniel is the third individual discovered in the River Thames since Thursday.

Following a report of a body floating in the River Thames, authorities recovered a man’s body near Westminster Bridge after being alerted around 2:25 pm on Friday of the same week.

A swift police search was initiated to locate Daniel after he disappeared from his residence in Thamesmead, situated in south-east London, yesterday.

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police stated, “At 2:24 pm on Friday, March 29, authorities received reports of a body in the water at Waterloo Bridge. Police officers promptly responded to the incident.”

“A short time later, the body of a male was retrieved from the water near Westminster Bridge. Police are currently working to ascertain the male’s identity and notify the next of kin. The circumstances surrounding the incident will be thoroughly investigated.”

Prior to this event, another man tragically lost his life on Thursday after his vehicle plunged into the River Thames, according to a report by MyLondon.

Police responded to Vicarage Walk in Battersea around 12:20 am following reports of a car submerged in the River Thames. The vehicle, with only one occupant inside, was recovered from the water at 11:20 am the same day.

Daniel’s family has been informed and is receiving support from police officers. The Metropolitan Police stated that there is no indication of any other individual’s involvement.

Officers are conducting inquiries to determine the circumstances surrounding Daniel’s disappearance.

A representative from the Metropolitan Police informed MailOnline: “On Friday, 29th March, an appeal was issued by the police to locate a missing boy, Daniel Alaby.

“At 18:23 hours that evening, officers searching for Daniel discovered a child in the River Thames. The officers retrieved the child from the water and administered CPR before the arrival of the London Ambulance Service.

“The child, believed to be Daniel, was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later pronounced deceased that evening.

“Daniel’s family has been notified and is receiving support from police personnel.

“Investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of the incident. Anyone who may have seen Daniel on Friday evening is urged to contact the police on 101 or via @MetCC ref 4592/29MAR24.

“At this initial stage, there is no evidence to indicate the involvement of any other individual. Inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances.”
