Bridget Fonda stepped out for some holiday shopping over the weekend, marking a rare public appearance for the retired actress, 61. She was spotted Friday browsing children’s store Flicka in Los Angeles’ Beverly Glen neighborhood, looking stylish in a black coat, matching pants, and a coordinating scarf.
Bridget Fonda was spotted holiday shopping in Beverly Glen, Calif., during a rare public outing. She accessorized with a black crossbody bag and glasses, smiling as she left the store carrying two shopping bags.
The retired actress, who has largely stayed out of the public eye, has not commented publicly on her recent weight loss.
Bridget Fonda was all smiles while out shopping in Los Angeles on Dec. 5.
Nutritionist Monica Partier told the Daily Mail in October that the Single White Female star appears to have lost around 75 pounds over the past few years—“which is not an easy thing to do over the age of 50.”
Fonda had previously spoken about her insecurities before stepping away from Hollywood in 2003. Reflecting on her struggles, she told the Los Angeles Times in 1993, “What is it with my low self-esteem?”

“Sometimes I feel like I can make myself look the way that I’m happy with, but I get really depressed if I think of the big picture or compare myself to movie stars who are supposed to look like Veronica Lake or Lauren Bacall,” Fonda said. “Like you’ve got to be a model. It’s a weird pressure.”
The Godfather Part III actress added, “I’m sort of trying to be happy with my career. I think I should give myself a break, but I’ve got this bug that rides me. You know, you should be doing better. So every time I work, I’m frustrated with my physical inability to catch up to my mental picture.”

Fonda, the daughter of the late Peter Fonda and niece of Jane Fonda, starred in notable films such as The Godfather Part III (1990), Singles (1992), Point of No Return (1993), and Jackie Brown (1997).
She retired from acting more than 20 years ago to focus on raising her son, Oliver, at the family ranch in Santa Barbara. Her final project was the 2002 TV film Snow Queen.
