Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were once one of Hollywood’s most iconic couples, captivating the public with their love story. Individually, they have achieved remarkable success in the entertainment industry as talented actors. Together, they created a beautiful family during their years of marital bliss. Although they have since parted ways, they have remained committed to co-parenting and raising their children with values that inspire others.
Affleck is renowned for his versatility as an actor, producer, screenwriter, director, and philanthropist. Garner has made a name for herself as an accomplished actress and producer. Both have used their fame and influence to make a positive impact through various charitable endeavors.
Their journey as a couple has had its share of highs and lows, but they have always prioritized their children’s well-being. Unfortunately, their fame has made them a target for the media, resulting in their children being exposed to unwarranted attention. Affleck and Garner have expressed their disapproval of this intrusion into their family’s privacy, recognizing the need to shield their children from the relentless paparazzi.
Despite the challenges they have faced, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner remain devoted parents and role models, navigating the complexities of fame while striving to provide a nurturing environment for their children.
While Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner have made efforts to minimize the intrusion of photographers in their children’s lives, glimpses of their personal and professional journeys have still been shared with the public. As a result, their children, including their eldest, Violet Affleck, have been growing up in the spotlight. Now a blossoming teenager, Violet has captured hearts with her charming presence and displays a blend of her parents’ distinct features, making her an absolutely delightful young lady.
Affleck’s Rise To Fame

Born on August 15, 1972, in Berkeley, California, Ben Affleck later moved to Massachusetts where he spent his formative years. Growing up in New England, he was immersed in an environment filled with artistic individuals and frequently accompanied his brother, Casey Affleck, and their mother to theater performances. Through their mother’s connection with a casting director in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the Affleck brothers began auditioning for roles in local commercials and film productions.
At the age of seven, Affleck secured his first official role, marking the beginning of his acting journey. As he progressed through his education at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School, he formed a close friendship with fellow student and future actor, Matt Damon. Having known each other since childhood, both Affleck and Damon shared a mutual desire to pursue careers in the entertainment industry.
Their aspirations turned into reality as both Affleck and Damon successfully entered the acting industry. The breakthrough moment arrived with the 1997 film “Good Will Hunting,” in which the duo not only co-starred but also co-wrote the screenplay. The foundation of the script originated from Damon’s work for a playwriting class at Harvard University, which he later collaborated on with Affleck during their shared residence in Los Angeles, California, a few years later.
“Good Will Hunting” featured an impressive cast including Minnie Driver and Robin Williams, and it achieved remarkable commercial success. The film earned Affleck and Damon the prestigious accolades of a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1997. Notably, Affleck became the youngest writer to receive an Oscar for screenwriting at the age of 25, a record that still stands to this day.
Friendly Partnerships

Affleck’s acting career boasts a roster of memorable roles, including his appearances in “Dazed and Confused” (1993) and “Armageddon” (1998). In 2007, he showcased his directorial skills with his debut film, “Gone Baby Gone,” which he also co-wrote. Affleck continued to demonstrate his versatility with the crime drama “The Town” (2010), where he took on the roles of writer, director, and actor. He further solidified his reputation as a multi-talented artist, earning critical acclaim for his work behind and in front of the camera. Surprising audiences, Affleck donned the cape and cowl as Batman in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016), starring alongside Henry Cavill.
Beyond his illustrious career and numerous opportunities to showcase his diverse talents, Affleck has expanded his involvement in the entertainment industry. He co-founded Pearl Street Films, a production company established with his longtime friend Damon.
In 2013, Affleck expressed his desire to make a positive impact on the world in a video for the Eastern Congo Initiative, a non-profit organization he co-founded. He outlined the organization’s mission, stating, “Let’s do something to work with people, help them try to make things better in their lives.” The Eastern Congo Initiative aims to support the Congolese people in building health, freedom, and prosperity, as stated on the organization’s official website.
Turning the spotlight to Garner, she was born on April 17, 1972, in Houston, Texas, and grew up in Charleston, West Virginia. Garner pursued her passion for theatre, studying at Denison University in Ohio and working as an understudy for the Roundabout Theatre Company in New York City. Her dedication paid off, and she made her screen debut in the 1995 film “Zoya.”
Garner’s career continues to flourish, and she has established herself as a versatile actress in both film and television.
Garner’s Flourishing Career

Garner’s ascent in the entertainment industry began with notable guest appearances and supporting roles in television shows before making her mark on the big screen. While showcasing her talents across various genres, Garner has become particularly recognized for her performances in romantic comedies and drama-comedies. Memorable film roles include “13 Going on 30” (2004), “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” (2009), and “Valentine’s Day” (2010).
Throughout her career, Garner has garnered praise from fans, peers, and critics alike, receiving accolades for her exceptional work. She secured a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Drama in 2001 and a Screen Actors Guild Award in the same category in 2004.
In addition to her remarkable and enduring career, the actress has utilized her platform to advocate for important causes, particularly early childhood education. Garner serves as a board member for Save the Children USA, an organization committed to improving the lives of children worldwide and ending child suffering. Furthermore, she is the co-founder and chief brand officer of Once Upon a Farm, an organic baby food company. Through Once Upon a Farm, Garner aims to nurture children, society, and the planet, working towards a healthier and happier world for future generations.
Despite Affleck’s enduring relationship with Garner, he has experienced his fair share of romantic entanglements throughout the years. One significant chapter in his love life unfolded when he started dating actress Gwyneth Paltrow in October 1997. Their connection deepened as they worked together on the film “Shakespeare in Love” in 1998. However, their relationship fluctuated between periods of togetherness and separation, ultimately coming to a final end in October 2000.

Affleck’s whirlwind romances continued, and he dated Jennifer Lopez from 2002 until 2004. The pair met on the set of “Gigli,” and began dating shortly afterward. They quickly became one of the most talked-about couples in the media, as their relationship received widespread coverage. Affleck and Lopez got engaged in November 2002 but ended their relationship in January 2004.
Just a few months after his break-up with Lopez, Affleck began dating Garner. They two already knew each other and were even friends from their times working together on the sets of “Pearl Harbor” in 2001 and “Daredevil” in 2003. The relationship took off, and the couple married on Jun. 29, 2005, in a private ceremony. Their beautiful family started blossoming shortly after, with their first daughter, Violet, born in December 2005. Their second daughter, Seraphina, was born in January 2009, and their last child and only son, Samuel, was born in February 2012.
Despite a gorgeous family together and their own successful careers, the two actors could not keep their marriage together. Affleck and Garner separated in June 2015, although Affleck continued to live in a guesthouse at the family home until 2017. The couple took the next step and jointly filed for divorce in April 2017, with it being finalized in October 2018. The couple has joined physical and legal custody of all three of their children together.
Garner had been married once before to actor Scott Foley. They had a wedding ceremony at their home in October 2000 but separated in March 2003 before filing for divorce. Their relationship officially ended the following year, in March 2004. During her separation from Foley, Garner began dating another actor, Michael Vartan, but the two also called off their relationship in 2004.
Raising Kids In The Spotlight

The worried mother revealed just how dangerous some situations have been regarding the media and her children. “And you’re begging them, ‘Please step aside from the pediatrician’s door. I have a sick kid. Please,'” she explained. It got so intense to the point where the paparazzi was “causing car accidents all the time.” In fact, Garner talked about a pretty close call she had with someone while driving. “I’d go through a yellow light and there would be 15 cars that would go through the red light without compunction,” she said.
Affleck shared the same sentiments. In an interview with Playboy in 2014, he talked about how he and his then-wife had met with California lawmakers to get legislation passed that would prevent paparazzi from getting too close a proximity to children and also prevent the stalking behavior of photographers. “You couldn’t chill the internet coverage of celebrities if you tried,” he added.
“You can say what you want about me. You can yell at me with a video camera and be TMZ. You can follow me around and take pictures all you want. I don’t care,” Affleck said. “But it’s wrong and disgusting to follow children around and take their picture and sell it for money.”
Co-Parenting And Paparazzi Complications
Jennifer Garner (2019), (Gotham/GC Images/Getty images)“It makes the kids less safe,” the actor continued. “They used to take pictures of our children coming out of preschool, and so this stalker who had threatened to kill me, my wife, and our kids showed up at the school and got arrested. I mean, there are real practical dangers to this.”
In 2010, a man by the name of Steven Burky was sent to a mental institution after being accused of stalking Garner and Affleck, BBC reported. He was arrested after he showed up outside a preschool that one of their daughters attended. He was charged with stalking and violating a restraining order but pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
In 2015, Garner told Southern Livingthat she and Affleck both strived to be the best parents to their children, despite their fame. “It’s really important for my kids to see that everyone doesn’t have the lives they see in Los Angeles,” she said. “That doesn’t reflect the world. I want them to grow up with the Southern values I had, to look at people when they say hello and to stop and smell the roses. If I could do half as good a job as my mom did, I’d be pretty happy.”
Even though they have split, the stars still make an effort to spend time together with their three kids. They were spotted taking Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel to church in November 2019 and, prior to that, celebrated Thanksgiving as a family, according to In Touch.
Violet Is All Grown Up
Ben Affleck (2020), (Amy Sussman/Getty Images)Born Dec. 1, 2005, in Los Angeles, California, Violet is 15 years old and already almost as tall as her mom. The teen bears a striking resemblance to her mom and now is catching with her in height as well. According to celebheights.com, Garner is 5’8 while Affleck is 6’3, so it should not come as a surprise that Violet will one day tower over her mother.
According to Daily Mail, Violet and her mother were spotted going into a nail salon for a pamper session in March 2020 at the Los Angeles’ Brentwood neighborhood. They were dressed almost identical, too, in gray tops, jeans, glasses, slippers, and with their hair tied back. Violet had a jacket on while Garner sported a buttoned cardigan.
Violet has been reported to be “a real mommy’s girl,” who shares similar personality traits with her famous mom. For example, both enjoy cooking. According to In Touch, Garner is often spotted taking her children to school or to soccer practice. As the eldest child, Violet is allegedly very protective of her younger siblings. “Violet’s extremely protective of Seraphina and Samuel and really watches out for her siblings,” a source revealed. “She’s extremely mature for her age.”
Despite growing up in the public eye with such famous parents, Violet has remained level-headed and appears to be like any other teenage girl. She has not yet entered the entertainment industry, although she still has plenty of time to do so, with a bright future full of opportunities ahead of her.
