Her television journey commenced in 1955 with “The Johnny Carson Show,” and she went on to feature in numerous series and films. However, it was her iconic portrayal of a liberated genie in “I Dream of Jeannie” that stands out as her most memorable role. The series graced the airwaves for a span of five years.
On her most recent birthday, the official Barbara Eden Instagram account posted a photo that left fans in awe of her appearance at her current age. The caption read, “On this special day, we extend our warmest birthday wishes to our beloved blonde, the fearless Rider of the Wild Surf, the intrepid Voyager to the Bottom of the Sea, the formidable nemesis of the Harper Valley PTA, and, of course, the timeless Lady in the Bottle.”
In her 2011 memoir, “Jeannie Out of the Bottle,” Barbara Eden reflects on her early life, her rise to fame in her twenties, her marriages, and the heart-wrenching experience of losing her son.
Now at the age of 92, the actress shares that she considers age to be a mere number. During an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, she expressed, “My birthday this year is just like any other – I’m simply grateful to be here. I’ve never been preoccupied with age, although it seems others are. I’m eagerly anticipating returning to work.”
Barbara remains actively engaged in her work and has no intentions of retiring in the near future. She stated, “I continued working right up until the shutdown in March last year,” during her conversation with the Hollywood Reporter.
She expresses contentment for her involvement in the entertainment industry, remarking, “I’m genuinely pleased to have experienced that era,” as she shared with the Hollywood Reporter. She also acknowledges the positive shift in the industry, saying, “I’m delighted to witness this wonderful time when more actors than ever are actively engaged, thanks to the numerous production companies like Netflix and Amazon creating an abundance of movies and TV shows.”
“I feel young!” Barbara told Page 6, adding that she considered herself lucky. “I feel sorry for people like my poor father who had to work every day at something he didn’t like. I enjoy my work. I still work.”
Until just a few years ago, she maintained her fitness routine, regularly attending the gym for spin classes and weightlifting. Today, she works with a personal trainer in the comfort of her own home.
The TV icon also shared, “I have a wide circle of friends, and I’m quite socially active.”

In 2021, she disclosed her secret to maintaining her youthful appearance, stating, “I’m quite mindful of my diet.” She went on to share, “I’m a carnivore, to be honest. I enjoy steak, and in our meals, we frequently include pork, chicken, steak, and vegetables.”
