This incredible story sparks rays of hope and reminds us that humanity is still going strong.

Gordon Blakeslee, an 85-year-old man from Harpursville, New York, was forced to spend some time with his son because of the pandemic. However, while he was away from home, someone stole his riding lawnmower and that left Gordon heartbroken because taking care of his yard and lawn is one of the things that keeps him busy and makes him feel useful. On top of that, he says that others, and that includes his son, cut the grass too short.

Not having an idea who could do such a cruel thing as stealing from him, Gordon posted a sign in front of his home saying: “Bring back my mower, I’m 85 years old and I can’t push.”

This turned out to be the right thing to do because the sign led to a solution to Gordon’s problem. Someone willing to step in saw Gordon’s plea and decided to buy him a brand new riding lawnmower. The person wanted to stay anonymous and asked the Broome County Sheriff’s Office to deliver Gordon his present.

Needless to say, this elderly man was over the moon. As the thief made him question humanity, the donor helped him restore his faith in it.

“Thank you, what else can I say. I really appreciate it,” Gordon said. “It’s got some new upgrades to it; that’s a lot better than my old one.”
