During this time, rumors regarding Ryan’s involvement with her co-star Russell Crowe garnered significant media attention. Ryan and Crowe had started dating while working together on the film “Proof of Life.” However, Ryan vehemently denied that her romance with Crowe was the cause of her marriage falling apart, asserting that their relationship was already in a fragile state.
“It was an enticing narrative, but what the story failed to capture was the reality of my nine-year-long marriage. Dennis was unfaithful to me for a significant period, and that was incredibly painful. “I believe Russell took a lot of heat, but he wasn’t the reason for the marriage ending. He was present towards the end, but the breakdown of our relationship had nothing to do with another person,” Ryan explained. “The public and the media caught on much later. The reasons for our separation had no connection to someone else,” she added.
Quaid expressed his dissatisfaction with his ex-wife’s remarks, finding it difficult to comprehend that Meg continues to publicly revisit and alter the narrative of their relationship, despite it being eight years since their separation. In an interview with the New York Daily News, he conveyed his disbelief at her actions.
While Ryan characterized their marriage as “unhealthy,” Quaid held a different perspective on their union. Speaking to Independent, he acknowledged that he still harbors love for her and holds a deep fondness, emphasizing that they continue to share enjoyable moments together. Reflecting on their 13 years as a couple, he highlighted the significance she had in his life, stating, “She made my life.”
Ryan and Quaid are parents to a son named Jack Quaid, who followed in his famous parents’ footsteps and achieved success in his own right, notably appearing in the Hunger Games series alongside other notable roles.
In 2006, as Meg Ryan’s career experienced a significant slowdown, she welcomed a new addition to her family. She adopted a daughter named Daisy, a 14-month-old girl from China at the time.
Expressing her heartfelt desire for motherhood, Ryan revealed her strong determination to connect with someone, leading her to meet Daisy and form an instant bond.
