Grams told CBC she assumed the ring was gone forever, until one day her stepdaughter was pulling weeds off the family property and spotted the strangest carrot.
Pulling it out of the ground, the young woman was shocked to see her mother-in-law’s ring around the carrot, pushing the gem from side to side to give the appearance of a ring-wearing big finger.
Grams was so happy to find her old ring, which she promptly put back in its proper place on her finger.
In a somewhat bittersweet twist, Mr. Grams was ultimately not told that the ring his wife had worn for 14 years was a fraud, as he had died five years before the event. Either way, Grams and his family are thrilled that the ring has finally been found, especially in an unlikely location.
Believe it or not, this isn’t the only example of a missing engagement ring wrapped around a carrot. A similar event occurred in Sweden in 2011, according to the BBC, where a woman found the ring she had lost in her vegetable patch 16 years earlier.
Although small miracles like these do happen, it is best to be careful with jewelry when working on a garden or farm. Remove any special rings before gardening and keep them in a safe place to prevent something like this from happening to you.
