Savannah Chrisley is standing by her relationship with husband Jason Galanis despite their 27-year age gap and her father Todd Chrisley’s initial disapproval.
Todd, 57, recently opened up about his concerns over his 29-year-old daughter’s romance with the 56-year-old convicted fraudster, who is just one year younger than him.
The reality TV patriarch admitted he was shocked when he first learned about their relationship and urged Savannah to consider dating someone closer to her own age.
However, Savannah refused to let her father’s reservations influence her decision, making it clear that she values a meaningful relationship over the number of years a couple might spend together.
“Savannah said to me, ‘Daddy, I’d rather have 20 amazing years, if that’s what I’d have, than 50 years of nothing,’” Todd revealed during Friday’s episode of the “Two Sons and Me” podcast.
Todd also acknowledged that he initially struggled to accept Savannah’s relationship with Galanis, particularly because the convicted fraudster had served time in the same Florida prison as him.
Todd (pictured here) revealed that Savannah defended their relationship, telling him, “Daddy, I’d rather have 20 amazing years, if that’s what I’d have, than 50 years of nothing.”
Recalling his initial reaction to the romance, Todd admitted he strongly opposed the relationship when Savannah first told him about Galanis.
“It’s very clear that when this whole thing came about and it was brought to me when she came and sat down with me, I said, ‘Absolutely not. This is not going to end well. This is not where you need to be in your life. You need to be with someone younger to build your life. You’re gonna have a short runway here,’” he recalled.
However, Todd revealed that his opinion of Galanis has since shifted, and he now appears far more supportive of his pregnant daughter’s relationship.
“Jason is brilliant. He’s got one of the most brilliant minds I’ve ever seen,” Todd said of the fellow former inmate.
“He has literally built his life from the ground up and everything he has, he has earned,” he added, praising Galanis despite his earlier reservations.
Todd praised Galanis (pictured here with Savannah) as “brilliant,” claiming his daughter no longer has to worry about financial security because of her relationship with him.
The “Chrisley Knows Best” alum went on to explain that Savannah “doesn’t have to worry about anything financially, emotionally, spiritually,” because she and Galanis are completely “in sync.”
Todd’s mother and podcast co-host, Nanny Faye Chrisley, also weighed in on the couple’s significant age gap, making it clear that she has no objections to their romance.
“Well, folks, Nanny and I always have a different set of opinion,” Todd joked before acknowledging that he, too, has come around to the relationship.
“But I’m gonna say I don’t have a problem with it either, cause I see how happy my daughter is,” he added.
Although Todd admitted that Savannah’s romance and pregnancy announcement unfolded differently from what he had envisioned for her, he emphasized that he now fully supports his daughter’s relationship and the choices she has made for her future.
Todd referred to Galanis (pictured above) as “an old man” while discussing the media attention surrounding his daughter’s relationship.
Earlier in the podcast episode, the “Chrisley Knows Best” star criticized how the press has portrayed Savannah’s romance, pregnancy and connection to Galanis’ controversial past.
“The press has decided to run with the fact that she’s engaged to an old man. That she is pregnant by an old man. That she met this man while trying to obtain our pardons. That he was formerly married. And that he was part of the Biden family situation, that whole scandal,” Todd said.
Galanis was recently identified as Savannah’s mystery partner and the father of her unborn child.
Although Savannah publicly announced that she was engaged to Galanis, newly uncovered marriage records revealed that the couple had already secretly married on July 14 in the Cayman Islands.
Savannah recently revealed that she is pregnant and engaged to Galanis, although marriage records later showed that the couple had already secretly exchanged vows in the Cayman Islands in July.
Galanis, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, was sentenced to more than 14 years behind bars for his involvement in two fraud schemes, including one that cheated a Native American tribe and investors out of tens of millions of dollars.
However, President Donald Trump commuted Galanis’ prison sentence in March 2025 without publicly providing a reason for the decision.
Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, also received presidential pardons from Trump in 2025 following their convictions for tax evasion and bank fraud.
Meanwhile, Savannah previously addressed criticism of her 27-year age gap with Galanis during Tuesday’s episode of her “Unlocked” podcast.
Defending her much older partner, the reality star insisted that Galanis “does not look his age, nor does he act his age.”
Savannah also gushed that Galanis “is the love of my life” while discussing their relationship. (Her pregnancy announcement is pictured above.)
The reality star went on to praise her husband’s appearance and intelligence, claiming he has a “great” body and an “even sharper” mind.
“This person is the love of my life. And it made all the heartbreak that I’ve gone through worth it,” Savannah said.
“And all the heartbreak taught me something. It taught me what I want, what I don’t want, what I should accept, what I shouldn’t accept,” she continued.
Savannah also described Galanis as her “best friend,” making it clear that their 27-year age difference doesn’t bother her.
“So what?” she declared, dismissing criticism surrounding their romance.
