An adopted Missouri man received the surprise of a lifetime after discovering that his biological father is five-time Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Michael McDonald, best known for his work with The Doobie Brothers.
Michael Goessling was placed for adoption as an infant after his biological parents became pregnant when they were both just 14 years old, according to First Alert 4.
Michael Goessling was adopted as an infant and grew up with no idea that his biological father was the lead singer of a famous rock band.
Raised in St. Louis by his adoptive parents, Paul and Kay Goessling, he said he had “a wonderful childhood” and always knew he was adopted.
“I could not pick two finer folks to raise me,” Goessling said.
Even so, he remained curious about his biological family. That curiosity intensified after he submitted his DNA to 23andMe and discovered a match with a half-brother he never knew he had.
The unexpected connection would eventually lead Goessling closer to uncovering the identity of his biological father.
