Who you gonna call? Apparently, the NYPD.
Dan Aykroyd revealed that he and his “Ghostbusters” co-star Bill Murray once made off with two “fully equipped” police motorcycles for an impromptu late-night joyride through Central Park.
Aykroyd said the pair “appropriated” the bikes from the set of “Ghostbusters II” while the sequel was filming in New York City in 1988 and 1989.
“So many adventures over the years,” Aykroyd wrote on Instagram while celebrating Murray’s 76th birthday Wednesday. He also shared two throwback photos of the longtime friends and co-stars.

“One night shooting GB2, we appropriated two fully equipped police motorcycles from the movie’s motor pool and spent an hour chasing each other around a closed Central Park with full lights and sirens,” Aykroyd recalled.
The actor said their unauthorized adventure never landed them in hot water.
“No consequences. After all, we were Ghostbusters,” he joked.
Aykroyd, 74, also paid tribute to Murray in the birthday post, calling his longtime co-star “the greatest comedy leading man of our time.”
The two comedians first crossed paths in the 1970s as they were getting their starts in comedy.
Both later became cast members on “Saturday Night Live,” with Aykroyd joining as part of the show’s original lineup and Murray coming aboard in its second season.
Their best-known collaboration arrived in 1984, when they starred together in “Ghostbusters” alongside Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson.

Following Ramis’ death in 2014 at age 69, Aykroyd, Murray and Hudson appeared in cameo roles in the 2016 “Ghostbusters” reboot. They later returned as their original characters in 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and again in 2024’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.”
Hudson told Page Six in March that Murray still reaches out to him unexpectedly from time to time.
“[Bill Murray] will call me out of the blue and invite me to something or other that I’m probably not able to do,” he said.
Aykroyd, pictured in 2025, also praised Murray in his 76th birthday tribute, calling him “the greatest comedy leading man of our time.”
Hudson, meanwhile, joked about Murray’s unpredictable communication style.
“I tell him, ‘You call me out of the blue. But when I call you, you never return my call!’” he added.
Aykroyd has also become increasingly critical of life in Hollywood and has spent more time in his native Canada in recent years.
Speaking to Adam Carolla in 2023, the actor said he drives “very carefully” in Los Angeles and tends to stay inside during what he described as “prison hours,” referring to the late-night hours he spends within his gated community.
